Ancestral Akaviri Motif - How do we get the lead?

Ancestral Akaviri Motif: The Ancestral Akaviri Chapters and its associated style item, the Burnished Goldscale, is obtained by excavating them via the Antiquities system throughout Blackwood. (From PTS Notes)

This reads the same as how the Ancestral Reach motif is obtained, by getting a lead and then digging it up. Ancestral Reach leads were given from treasure maps from Skyrim and The Reach treasure maps.

So does anyone know how we will be able to obtain the leads for Ancestral Akaviri motifs? I know we will dig them up in Blackwood, but how do we get the lead in the first place?

I assumed same as you did, that it would work like the Anc. Reach did.

Probably through Blackwood treasure maps, or Deadlands treasure maps if they exist.

    Hope thats not the case.

There's probably more people with the godslayer achievement than people who have unlocked all 14 codex entries for digging up the anc. reach pages, and thats insane.

If it is the treasure maps from the new area, I guess there is no way to prepare in advance this time around.

Last time I was able to find enough Skyrim maps in guild stores before Markarth launched to get a good head start on my Ancestral Reach motif collection.

ZOS any chance for a hint as to how to obtain these leads? :)

I need to know the best way to get them too. This will be the first thing to chase after the new chapter arrives. Even before getting my companion.

If ZOS really does continue this garbage with making future Ancestral Motifs exclusive to new Treasure Maps, they need to at least release a Crown Store "Folio" with a full set of the leads pertaining to an Ancestral Motif. Just make the ensuing found Motifs bound to your account.

Not a fan of spending a Million+ Gold on collecting a Motif, direct or otherwise. It's unreasonable. At least other "Hyper Rare" Motifs, like Bouyant Armiger, have been made available for Crowns in one way or another. These should be no exception.

I just posted my opinion of this topic in the official feedback thread:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/7247137/#Comment_7247137

I'd highly recommend going there and posting your suggestions, could be the best shot to fix what's been an issue ever since Greymoor launched.

..which also makes me wonder if by making it such a chore, and a rarity, that they are gearing up to monetize Antiquities in some aspects. And that would be a slimeball move.

The DLC Ancestral motifs are all kinds of BS.

I've been having terrible luck with the Reach ones - I got one motif out of the over 40-50 maps I've dug up. I'd love to have a full codex for these, but sometimes I'm left wondering if the drop rate is bugged.

There are also Ancestral Breton and Imperial in the files, and I think I heard rumors of an Ancestral Daedric as well. Are they all going to have the same stupidly low drop rates? Are we going to get another in the Q4 that shares the Blackwood maps... or are they really going to torture us worse than Reach's 8 possible maps by putting Akaviri only in Blackwood's 6 maps and then leaving Ancestral Daedric to share all of the Deadlands' 2 maps?!

I'm still stockpiling my Cyrodiil treasure maps since I have a feeling that Ancestral Imperial is coming there eventually - at least there are 15 maps possible...

I wish the DLC Ancestral leads would drop as bonus loot in the proper zone - that would make more sense along the lines of their tooltips in the first place. Or at least add them to the zone chests at the same ridiculous drop rate, but then we don't have to shell out obscene amounts of money on a guild trader to get the chance of a lead.

Where do the Reach treasure maps come from? I seem to have random treasure maps in my inventory all the time, from both base and DLC zones. But I can't remember the last time I found a Reach treasure map and I am in that zone in lot. I have never really paid attention to where these treasure maps are coming from. I just know I had the Southern Elsweyr map locations memorized because I got so many of them back when Southern Elsweyr was the zone I was exploring and running dailies in all the time. But I just about never get Reach treasure maps, and not sure if much rarer than any other zone's treasure maps, or if I am doing something wrong...

I cannot believe they would do this a second time. Doing it this way once was borderline irredeemable.

I know literally no one who has completed Ancestral Reach, despite us spending hours and hours and hours farming dragons for maps, harrowstorms for maps, and overland chests for maps. It's absolutely unjustifiable to spend what people are charging for the pertinent maps for a minuscule chance of the leads. And farming them is a staggering waste of time, because farming the maps from even the best map sources gives you a small chance of maps, with a tiny chance of any of those being the right map, with a tiny chance of any of those having a lead, with what I assume to be a 1/14 chance to get each of the leads.

Stacked RNG is bad. Stacked RNG to this extend is unforgivable. I legitimately don't understand how this went live once. They have the data available to see the atrocious the results of of this spectacularly awful design, so it's hard for me to comprehend any motivation for doing the same blatantly awful thing a second time other than cruelty. I don't like to think that way, but you have to judge people on their actions, and actions like this leave few ,if any, other options.

And if anyone from ZOS reads this comment, I expect they'll have a visceral response. No one likes to be called cruel. But, once again, you can only judge people on their actions, and there are no other reasonable interpretations of this action.

I accumulated a dozen maps for the Reach/Skyrim. Got 1 lead for Ancestral Reach. Even if I'm on the harsh end of RNG it's just not worth buying or farming for the maps to try and finish the motif book. Now, I sell all maps for 40k, it's extortion but that's the price. I see Ancestral reach motifs for around 100k each on my server.
So by my basic math I'd say with around 1.5 million gold I could potentially buy the motif just by selling less than 40 maps. It's an absolute no brainer! The system is wrong.

So if it's going to be the same for the new Akaviri pages, every single map I get will be sold for what is likely going to be an absolute premium and in time I'll just buy what I need afterwards.

If we had a dedicated way to farm zone specific Treasure Maps (like zone treasure maps dropping from the zone specific world bosses or other zone activities) - It would make a huge difference when going for these leads. Having a better way to get a chance at these maps from spending time in that specific zone would make it feel like we have fighting shot at getting these leads.
