Is it worth returning to Tamriel?

I'm a long time fan and player of ESO. Around a year ago during all of the server issues, technical "bugs" and bot infestation, I decided to step away. After a long break I'm now curious to know if the state of the game has improved, especially since the acquisition by Microsoft. Any insight is welcomed, thank you:)

Depends which version you play on (PC/console, server... ?). But don't expect day/night change. Maybe wait 4k console update to have eye-candy transition ?

Current performance on console EU xbox server seems fine, except in harrowstorms (delay displaying enemies and players during prime-time especially).

    Depends on what you're doing.
Performance in PvP still isn't something to write home about. From what I've read Trials are laggy too.
But overland, dungeons and Crown Store don't suffer.
Heard nothing about bot clean outs so...

    From a gameplay perspective:
CP system got reworked entirely. Most sets are disabled in Cyrodiil too.
Before you make up your mind if returning is worht it, wait till the PTS is up. It's the best indicator for future balance we have.

If server issues, bugs, and bots are your metric, no, that hasn't enormously improved. ESO really hasn't fundamentally changed from the game it was a year ago.

My reasoning is that if you liked quests or your friends are still playing PVP/PVE group content, it's probably worth giving it a try again with people you enjoy playing with. Otherwise, it's very likely that the same issues that irritated you before will continue to be irritants.

It certainly depends on playstyle and to a lesser degree platform, but there's no reason not to log in and see for yourself. Some of us have never had issues, others report that they have always had issues. Your experience may be different to anyone else's, but it won't cost anything to find out.

    sort of....

i also stop playing for about 6 months, just recently came back again because of the companion system on next chapter, it seems intriguing

i personally feels like home coming back, i like the new CP system and also the rework of the skill line, especially the passive major gallop, i think thats the best decision ZoS ever made

but other than that, performance wise its a bit of mix, for note i play from SEA, so 250-300 ping is normal for me, but for some reason, Dungeons and Trials is laggy as all hell, but on the other hand, Cyrodiil is perform remarkably well for my ping, very stable and enjoyable
