Can we please remove Guild Tabards?

Please, this has been asked for, for years. Make the guild tag a dropdown like titles to choose from, and lose the tabard that covers my clothing/armor. If it absolutely needs to be, put a checkbox for "Display Tabard" along side it. I am missing out on an entire part of the game that looks pretty fun, all because I am proud of and want to display my guilds tag over my head. This is a basic feature of every other game ever made, yet even though ESO includes an amazing outfit system, someone along the way decided to ruin that system by dropping a tabard over anything you create, effectively hiding it.

Tabards also turn your chest armor into a black polo for most armor sets that werent available at launch.

No thank you. I am asking for a way to both see my created outfits and have guild members more likely to display their guild tag, not have yet another reason to avoid doing so. Maybe they can add a big wooden arrow with your info on it, then you could pay someone could stand at the wayshrine spinning it and pointing at your trader though.

That would be painful.

How about displaying guild name next to the trader's name when you hover over it on the map?

Why do players wear tabards anyway?

I never hover over other players to see their titles or what guild they are in. I think most players really don't care.

Not true at all. Obviously you changed the default and turned off showing titles & guild names as is your preference, but judging by having them turned on, a great many (most?) players are very proud to display their titles and/or guild affiliation. Many more would also like to, except the tabard ruins their look.

Also, it would benefit guilds to be able to ask folks to turn on their guild tag when participating in guild events. As it is now, guild events mostly look like a bunch of randoms running around together.

They never made sense considering that you can be in 5 guilds.

I obviously must have turned that off but it's been so long I had forgotten about it. But the reason would have been because I don't really care about that info. I wonder how many players do?

Ask for the option to be added. Instead of removing tabards.

A lot of us love our custom tabards, build outfits around our tabards. More options, not less

I would use the check box option if it existed, both for tabards and/or guild tags in our nameplate. There are probably reasons for showing and reasons not to, and having options is good.

The better request would simply. Hey can we get our guild name as a title cause I don't want to wear a tabbard..

Yes a "Hide Tabard" option along the same lines as the existing "Hide Helm" option would be nice.

You apparently just read the post title and skipped right to reply, since that is exactly what I asked for. And by "get rid of", I meant from my characters body, not the game.

honestly, the fact that I have to chose between displaying my guild name and wearing a custom outfit is 99% of the reason why I have been only wearing costumes on several characters. so please, yes drop down title, for the love of god.

I know that some people actualy do like wearing tabards, so I don't want them gone completely. edited - just hidable. and while we are at it. right now if I want to wear different guild tags, i have to allot inventory slots to each and every tabard. what i would LOVE is that along with hide tabard option rather then tabards being tied to specific guilds and then rendered useless inventory fillers should you leave that guild - they should instead display insignia of whatever guild name player may chose to display.

please, ZoS. I hope its possible

Well you probably nailed why they have not fixed this yet... it forces you to wear crown costumes. Personally I feel like, if the costume is good enough I will buy and wear it regardless when in the mood. But I would very much like to be able to design and wear my own outfits as well. From my perspective I don't even see why outfit slots exist, because they are pointless to me. If I could create outfits to show off though, I could see purchasing many of those outfit slots, so it isn't like they are losing out on sales really.

The tabard should be changed to a back banner like the bosses in Dragonstar Arena & Imperial City. A win-win for all.
