Queueing for battlegrounds with 12 man group

Hello,
I was looking for guild event idea's and found on this site that you can queue for battlegrounds with a 12 man group and battle eachother:

But i can't find any information on it anywhere else, so i just wanted to confirm if this is actually a thing.
And would it also work with a group of 9 like 3v3v3?
