Companions Gear question ?

So, 10 slots, 3 weights, 9 traits = a LOT of gear.
Even if I dedicate a companion to one specific role, i still have to experiment with the best traits.
Are companions gear pieces reconstructable?

My question to our dear Game-makers is: new Chapter offers overland sets, dungeons sets, monster sets, new mystics.
(At E3 when beautiful Gina and Rich appeared at Ninja614 booth: Rich Lambert told: no upcoming inventory upgrades, because: performance. Still 30+ sets introduced since than. More to come.)
Where do I store these? I have no idea.
Could i, please, hope for some 200 slots housing chest dedicated to the companion gear? three mannequins for companions DPS/Healer/Tank gear? Halp!!!

    ZOS thought grind is fun, so companion gear cannot be crafted or researched and thus it can't be transmuted or reconstructed either. It can only be obtained through loot drops and it only drops for you if you have your companion out.

    Companions do seem to have an inventory for companion gear that we saw on stream, but that may have been the player's inventory instead and it was just filled exclusively with companion gear for the purpose of showcasing it. That would be a nightmare and a reason for me to never touch companions.

    If they don't make companion gear go into a companion's own inventory instead of adding more +10 bag slot paid companions, I would be upset.

    Bag space and bank space is already a QOL issue in this game and my characters already carry multiple sets for different content. Add companion gear to my bag is nothing short of painful inventory management.

    There will be merchants that sell basic white quality gear in the different traits.

    I wouldn’t assume that the companion gear will be available in the same traits as player gear, if it has traits at all. Obviously Impenetrable would be useless and unless they can use Mundus stones, so would Divines. From what was said in the stream, I think the gear will be a lot simpler than that.

Obviously Impenetrable would be useless and unless they can use Mundus stones, so would Divines. From what was said in the stream, I think the gear will be a lot simpler than that.

    They already said it's not the same. Companion gear has their own traits.

    • Augmented Increases duration of all Companion Buffs and Debuffs per piece equipped.
    • Bolstered Reduces Companion Damage Taken per piece equipped.
    • Focused Increases Companion Critical Strike Rating per piece equipped.
    • Prolific Increases Companion Ultimate Generation per piece equipped.
    • Quickened Reduces Companion Ability Cooldowns per piece equipped.
    • Shattering Increases Companion Penetration per piece equipped.
    • Soothing Increases Companion Healing Done per piece equipped.
    • Vigorous Increases Companion Maximum Health per piece equipped.

    Well, for starters there are no companion sets and the effects of the traits are really straight forward. You cannot upgrade the companion gear so your only option is to loot or buy a quality upgrade from other players.
    The traits are pretty much all you have to worry about. In that sense it is still simplified.

    I was really Hoping of putting ebon and sanctuary on a companion, but oh well... no Christmas lights.

    Hope Zenimax will provide the tooltip, showing how much crit or pen the piece of gear in question provides.
    Also, we do not know the companions' base pen.

    After U29 two stamina classes (DKs and Templars) have issues reaching 18,200 pen,
    so i wonder if companions have passives (like increased pen for a piece of light armor)
    and if it is possible to make companions parse on a 3M dummy?
    well.. hope we will see that on PTS.

    Doesn’t make sense for my character to be a master crafter and not/can’t craft anything for my buddy...

    Also a small inventory for companions wouldn’t go amiss either..I don’t want the gear clogging up my own inventory.

    While I understand with this new addition of companions the reason for gear specific for them (at least for now).

    This will surely make a monstrous increase in a players storage need.

    Just for Armour of Nine (9) different traits three (3) different weights, and seven (7) different Armour slots. This makes for one hundred eighty nine (189) inventory slots just to hold one set of each of the Armour items.

    The fully upgraded players bank, (non ESO+) inventory is 240. So with 189 items for the companion amour sets. Leave 51 bank slots for other things.

    Now add the Jewelry and Weapons they can use to this and we are getting a massive increase in storage requirements.

    We need a FREE storage upgrade to hold this stuff or make the companions gear not count as actual inventory and be placed into holding similar to how player costumes / mementos / mounts are.

    fully upgraded bank is 240 slots. Still if i decide to collect all 3 weights - two of these might be put on companions, and i have to carry the third bunch of companions' gear.

    What concerns me is that it might be reasonable to have same weight gear in different traits (as player character also carries several setups (more DPS or more tankiness or even more tanky plus some PVP sets which differ for Cyro and IC) an, yes, i have no idea where to store the gear in question if these are non-reconstructabe (unless already researched "players'" trait stones could be applied to the companions gear).

    If Game-makers decide to implement 200 slots companions bags (at least for companions gear) - this would be the really logical step. Player characters can carry up to 210 items, why companions can not do the same? (otherwise one player character is required to become a companion's squire, which arise the question who is the boss, me or my companion?) :)

    I was so hoping that it would be like swtor. No gear worries just how you want them to play. Either tank DPS or healing. Grinding for their gear doesn't sound fun.
