Dealing with all the dlc quests as a returning player

Hey guys,
This might be an odd question for a veteran player (been playing since beta, been away since Elsweyr), but I decided to start playing again. However, once I started a new character I'm completely confused by the new championpoint system, and the lack of main quest in West Skyrim. But now to the point: the thing that is putting me off to go on playing again, is the sheer amount of DLC quests popping up in Solitude. No pointers on how to use the new artifact stuff, just a ton of quests that clog up everything. I cant keep them apart anymore. I know, the best thing would be to run through all the previous content before heading towards the latest chapter, but thats not what I want right now. Anyone out there that has dealt with the same problem, and knows a decent fix for it? I would really appreciate it!

I just returned after a long break as well.

So, what I did was try to focus on an area that I wanted to explore. Like, Murkmire. I did the intro quests, and ignored all the other npc helpers that wanted to give me more for other areas. Even Stuga. That really simplified my quest log, as the only leads in there were for the content I was currently doing.

Antiquities is really vague. If you wanted to approach it as leads you would organically find in your travels, it would really be a slow and meaningless side offering. But, if you wanted to tackle it, I would take a look at this guide which is an excellent reference.

Vanquish also has a ANTIQUITIES guide in our public guides section. You can also find....

    CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER OF MAIN STORY

    CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER OF DLC

These guides (and a few others) are available for all to view on the public area of the Vanquish website.

    Hope they help!

The new system seems more like a time-filler to me right now. Might want to delve into it once I reach max level again. Gonna try the questing suggestion you gave me. Here goes nothing.

You get Western Skyrim main quest from Brondod (another "I need your help..." whiner) around Solitude. And pushed that way by Fennorian if you do the intro with a new char.

I skipped the tutorial (cant stand it really...), so thats where stuff went south (pun intended, haha).

I don’t think the developers understand just how much of a turn off it is to navigate between the base game and the DLC‘s and trying to do the story in a chronological order.

Sure, the developers can claim there technically isn’t a chronological order - but that’s just not true. There definitely is a correct order to play the content.

I’m not saying the developers should go back to how things used to be where you were on one railroad - but they should lay out the story order so that a player can have an immediate understanding of what is going on and can choose how they want to proceed.

Exactly this. You get put into the latest chapter you bought, without telling you that isnt the right place to start. And then you get swarmed with intro quests for all others. I mean, I love one tamriel and all, but it would been far better to keep zone-progression in place.

Before doing anything, get the display leads addon to keep track of leads if you're on pc and start the antiquities quest to unlock the skill lines, then go to Arteum and grind until lvl 5 so you can scry and excavate up to purple leads. Leads have a 30 days expiration once found.

Then you can go through whichever previous content that pleases you, and you will find leads and be able to use them and level antiquities skills to lvl 10 eventually while playing through normally.

Main story quests have a different icon on the map/compass, so they should be easy to identify.
I don't know how much of a linearity is between the different dlcs, each year long story nowadays starts in a 4 man dungeon btw.
Honestly I wouldn't look for a cohesive story overall, the devs clearly want people to play each big story in any way they want.

I'll do that straight away. Thanks for the tip!
