Non-"human" Companions

Now that we know that companions will use companion-specific gear and have their own skills, can we safely assume there will be "creature" type companions?

My most desired:
1. Animals (wolf!!!)
2. Alfiq
3. Blackfeather Crow

I don't want a chatty humanoid NPC following me around but I'd be excited about actually utilizing the roleplay aspects of companions like the above. Building trust with a wild wolf, learning to respect an adorable widdle Alfiq, or being regaled by my own Crow squire sound awesome to me!

What would you like?

Alfiq companions would be cool indeed! At least they would just behave like normal pet instead of a NPC.
I already wonder how cities will look like and everyone having companions blocking crafting stations >.<

I don't know if that would make sense? Animals like wolves or a battle crow would just be a new pet, in my opinion, like Warden bear. I wish for different Mer-companions, somebody to talk with.

An Alfiq would be fun but they would need combat animations and probably an custom class.
Senche-raht would give the amusing option of combining an companion and an mount.
Later already have combat animations as you have the one from Southern Elsweyr and they are enemies in Sunspire and some other places, yes you would need more for more moves.
Special companion armor solves lots of the problems with armor for them.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    My companion wishlist:
    • One companion of every combination of playable race and sex (that's already 20 different options!)
    • Maormer companion
    • Skeleton and/or Daedra companion - to make you feel like a summoner!
    • Khajiit furstock companions
    • Other nonhumanoid companions of sentient races
    • Werewolf/Vampire companion (if we don't eventually get to turn the other companions)
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

That feels more like a beast master (lol) class rather than companions.

Two systems would be cool. But these companions can help in combat. I don’t Like the idea of a crow using rapid strikes for example.

Black feather court crow sounds like fun. The friendly ish goblin in the quest was cute too, forgot his name but they were being tricked into signing a contract.

The broader approach is to introduce a "taming" mechanics, offering players to make non-hostile creatures non-combat pets, and combat pets for the hostile ones.

Hiring NPCs to become companions could become the next step, however the amount of man-hours for implementing that should be really really serious (if you ever player FO4: companions make very relevant comments about locations, other NPCs, former adventures - these are literally thousands lines of unique dialogues (and dialogues are voiced in ESO)), so hardly it would ever happen.

I vote for Panda as my companion. Smart fast Panda. :)

p.s. concerning goblins: if you make a new character, start and don't complete the Stonefalls quest, providing you with a Shadowsilk Gem, a disguise basically, turning your character into a female goblin.. You can delete this new character afterwards.
I doubt companions have a disguise slot.

Werewolf/vampire companions would be great. Right now it seems they aren't an option at all.

Alfiq would need a new ai combat style. Would be completely fine with that being added. Khajiit senche got a new fighting style when they released.
That one khajiit obsessed with werewolf behemoth and vampire lord. Lady Thorn is bae, dont @ me.
    Werewolf behemoth=vampire lord>blood scion>werewolf>vampire.

Inspired, guys: what if you could put hats on the Blackfeather squire? I'd want him to wear a teacup as a helmet. A shiiiiiny one, of course!

I’d love an Afiq companion, just for the character itself, their story and commentary. I wouldn’t mind if their ability to participate in combat was limited and logically it should be limited to spell casting from range. Maybe they could even cast a spell to make you invisible! Since they’re PvE only that wouldn’t take away anything from nightblades nor upset class balance I don’t think.

I’m looking forward to meeting the two companions introduced with Blackwood and am glad they are full characters with backstories! :)

I think I would prefer an animal companion to a human.

Ideally I would love to have non-combat pets be a skin for them. I wanna fight undead with my doggo, but he just stands there derping and panting while i fight.

Semantics. Blackfeather crows are also sentient, speaking beings. "Creature" is used here broadly to refer to a non-human body composition.

My Moonsugar Meadow has a "human" like living area for my Senche-Raht mounts, complete with the giant canopy beds. It feels weird using them only as mounts when they are sentient. Would be so cool to take it one step further and have them be your companion when you dismount!

I'm not against a creature-like Companion — well, maybe a Goblin, I wouldn't like to run around hearing rwaba! gwaba babba wabba! all the time. But I would really, really like intelligent and location-aware Companions who talk to me when arriving at certain locations like in Skyrim when Erandur followed me in Markarth "Watch your step! Markarth has quite the reputation due to the Silver-Blood family". To me, Companions must be more than simply followers, they must have personality... as long as they know when to shut up instead of talking, talking and talking some more like female Krogan.

Yes, I did the stupidity of having a Destruction Mage with Restoration perks as a follower
