New werecreature types?

Ok. I'll be the first person to admit my lore for ESO is a little rusty, so I'm not sure that this is something that would fit or not.

I'd be really interest in other were types beyond wolf. Even if they could add one or two more to mix things up a bit.
I was thinking of something like werebears that could be designed for tanking or enhancing health/durability etc. or weretigers that could enhance magicka classes kind of like the Rakshasa of legend.

I love were creatures of all types and enjoy werewolves. Trying to think of others that would help fill the gaps (tanking/magicka) that are missing. And yes, I know that vamps can fill the magicka role somewhat, but we all know they have their own issues that need to be addressed to make them ore viable that just a red mist.

What do you guys think?

There are several types of werebeasts in TES lore and at least three others have appeared in games: wereboars in Daggerfall, werebears in Skyrim (both available to players) and werebats in ESO which are enemies but cannot infect you.

The other ones I know of are werelions (only found in Elseweyr) werecrocodiles (in Black Marsh), werevultures (in Valenwood) and weresharks in the ocean - but even in-universe those are disputed, some people think they're just fishermen's tales.

I agree it would be nice to have more forms in ESO, either with different skills or even just as different appearenes for the werewolf transformation. I'm not sure why they've never been added, but so far they've just stuck to werewolves.

Maybe if one day we get a DLC or storyline focused on Hircine (the daedric prince who turns people into werebeasts) they'll add different transformations.

Yes agree more Lycan firms should be added. Even if it’s just a skin that goes over werewolf.

What would be neat if it’s slightly different from werewolf and a different infection. Would need to. cleansed before being infected by another strain. Like you can’t be a werewolf and vampire at the same time.

Maybe when we get to go fully to Hircine’s realm this will be added. Hope so :)

All they need to do is add skins to the Crown store.

Not too complicated, and the developers could definitely make a lot of money from that

Some of those would be quite complicated though. The werevultures and werebats would have a completely different skeleton, so all skill animations would look completely different and at this point it's going to be tough make the skills recognizeable.
Take the Warden bear as an example. No matter what that bear looks like, it is always recognizeable as "the warden bear", but only if it still is a bear. If it looked like a Senche-Raht, a crocodile or a wolf, then you would be immediately confused what that thing is that is coming right for you.
Weresharks, Werelions, Wereboars, Werebears and Werewolves all look similar enough with the way they walk and swing their claws, but vultures and bats have wings and use the claws from their feet, so we'd have to relearn everything we know intuitively about Werewolf skills for those special forms to be able to analyse what an enemy werevulture/bat is doing in PvP.

I do want those different werecreatures to be playable, but the vulture and bat will not be easy to implement even if they all share the same skills.

I think Lions, Bears, Boars, Sharks, Foxes, & Crocodiles would be just fine on the Werewolf skeleton.
Those with different colors would add enough variety to keep the players busy for a while.

I’d focus on those over the bat or vulture.

Also I’d bar those skins from PvP.

Keep it simple and recognizable for everyone. Prevents confusion.

This idea is what I'd actually like to see for a Spellcrafting system, too.

Not actual mechanical changes (that would be a balancing NIGHTMARE), but a quest-related way to unlock new skins/visuals for the class skill lines (at least) in the interest of adding more thematic flavors.

For example, in keeping with your were-creature idea, maybe the Warden could get a series of ability skins with an aquatic feel. The Cliff Racer becomes a fish or water blast, the shalks become sharks (see what I did there?), the netch becomes a water orb (like the Mourning Stone on Khenarthi's Roost), and the Bear ultimate gets reskinned as a Neried.

You know, just little stuff like that to let players fool around with different power fantasies, without changing anything mechanically.

I think werebears would be awesome, and they are definitely in lore. Even in ESO lore, as Dagrund the Bulky claims to be a werebear and there are rumors that Ard Caddach is, but neither are seen in anything but human form.

Honestly I'd just like to see them use the 'Special' collection category for more than the grey bear. I'd be perfectly satisfied with just slapping a bear skin on a werewolf and calling it a day.
