How to manipulate starting with original Tutorial

Hello,

I recently won a few Greymoor codes for PC so I could get my nieces into ESO.

My Dad had made each of them invincible characters in orig TES3 Morrowind - so they could jump off of things, and be scared of little skeevers and get a feel for what the Elder Scrolls is, and could be. They are the PERFECT age to be swept up in the entire Tamriel story.

They all know the original tutorial Cadwell song, "One Fine Day - In The Middle Of The Night" lyrics off by heart - because each line is a juxtaposed riddle. They know what a Golden Saint is; love Khajiit; and have expressed they want to play as an Argonian, a Wood Elf, and a High Elf. Lol.

My question is - how do I get them to start in the original tutorial? I want them to be SCARED of Molag Bal! I want them to feel the fear when they hear a dolmen drop it's chains. I want the first NPC they meet to be Lyris. They will instantly LOVE her as a bad-ass female lead character.

The oldest niece asked me tonight if they will have nightmares due to in-game content - and I said, "for sure you will!" Lol. Even *I* still dream in ESO!

I don't want them to start with the Fenorian intro - or even the Morrowind intro.

Is there a way to manipulate how they enter into the game?

I have 2 alt accounts - and oddly, some started in the orig tutorial - but others in Morrowind tutorial. These were started on XBOX - and some of the Game Pass connected accounts started in original tutorial, yet some in Morrowind.

Does the Free Play event for PC start a new account off in the original tutorial? Or Morrowind? Or which intro?

I want them to do the tutorial - and then add the Greymoor codes I won to open up content eventually - with ESO Plus subs that I will get for them - but only AFTER they have started in Coldharbour. This is the basis for everything I know about ESO - and I want the same for them. It's intriguing! Magical! Lifelong addictive!

Again - is there a way to fudge / manipulate it so they know the base game story from the beginning?

Cheers, and thanks,

S.

    I'm speechless 😶 ...

    But to actually answer:

Just pass any tutorial go to mainland homecity of your faction and start the main quest from the shadowy character. Complete the very first objective and you'll get sent straight back into the original tutorial zone.

When I told them that my noob PC account character would be the tank - and what the other roles in a 4-person dungeon are - they collaborated, and drew out a map of a multi-room dungeon from their imagination - and drew arrows for which characters would go where; pull which mobs (impressed they even knew the term "mobs"); and how they would distract the final boss to get the Skyshard (which apparently is in a chest lol). I kiiiiind of think they are more coordinated than most PUGs - and they haven't even played yet! Lol.

I will pay pretty much full game price for each of them - if I can just get them to start in Coldharbour. I want them to learn to sneak with the Eye. I want them to pick their first lock. I want them to hear Michael Gambon say, "The Lord Of Brutality knows you're here... hurry!" And feel the intensity of how he pronounces, "Quickly - grab the Skyshodddd." Lol.

How can I manipulate this introduction?

You can’t, unfortunately, unless you can find an old game code (from before mid-2018). Morrowind is base game and has been included in all new copies since 2018. Your characters will start there, even for a free play event. But you will still go through the Eye scenario and hear that line of dialogue, after you start the main quest.

Absent that code, though, if you want that to be the first thing they see, you will have to resort to YouTube or other video source. :(

Yes, agreed - thanks for the reply - and of course that is the current workaround - and I guess what we will have to do... but that only starts them at The Harborage... not the tutorial.

The continuity is already kind of ruined at that point... and again - they would't even have met Cadwell if they go to The Harborage, AFTER meeting this inconsequential NPC... what was his name, again? Oh, right - Fennorian. I mean - I did the Greymoor content - and even *I* barely care about him in the greater context of ESO lore. (apologies goth fan boys and girls)

They know that Nearly Headless Nick is the same guy as the waiter who gave a guy a wafer-thin mint as the same guy who plays off-key string instruments, as their own bad ukulele playing. <3

Closest thing is to close their eyes after character creation, do the tutorial for them, then head to the mysterious hooded figure, and let them open their eyes for the video. After the new chapter though you should have the option to start with the original quest.

Hmm... okay, wait - after the first time they talk to the Hooded Figure - where do they go? Is it the same, "escape from Coldharbour" quest - Lyris; Butcher; Eye; Cadwell; lockpick; hallway; Skyshard; Child Of Bones?

If so - mind blown - and sincere apologies - 'cause this would solve everything (as possibly explained above).

Yes, talk to the figure. Go to place and then The Wailing Prison starts .
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

Yes, minus the tutorial hints and texts. So no picking up white armor and weapons (you can — but you’re not directed to), no directed cue to sneak around the Eye (iirc), etc.

But you do go through the same events, starting with the same video intro. It’s super awkward lorewise to have to go through the whole “got taken” thing, as compared to just being thrown right in from the get go, but you don’t miss the story moments you mentioned earlier, just the actual tutorial hints/cues.

Wait until June whatever date it is coming out for you then I believe with the Blackwood update it will allow you to choose what tutorial you want to start with.

I guess the only way to have the first tutorial legit is to have the game installed without any chapter.
... which is not possible with recent versions of the game, and certainly not with Greymoor included.

As said above, you can skip the Greymoor tutorial and go straight to hooded figure in your home alliance town to have it...

I believe it’s the case that they said a new tutorial was coming with Blackwood and that we would get to choose where we wanted to go from there after the new tutorial. I didn’t understand it to be a tutorial select system.

Yeah, I’d love that actual Coldharbour tutorial back.

We’ll see in a week when Blackwood hits the PTS exactly how this new level select system is going to work.

Yes, that was the impression I got, too, from the way the announcement was worded-- that there will be "a common tutorial," presumably meaning every new character will go through the same tutorial regardless of whether it's created within the base game (without Morrowind or any other chapter), or with Morrowind as the "newest" purchased chapter, or with Summerset, or with Elsweyr, or with Greymoor, or with Blackwood, or with any future chapter.

Then, after completing the "common tutorial," we'll be allowed to choose which zone that character will start the game in.

But the details are all very unclear at this time, so we're just speculating, and we'll have to wait until Blackwood hits the PTS so we can actually see how it's going to work.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
