Just a quick one

How do you get the maelstrom staff. I know you are supposed to finish the maelstrom arena ... however how often does it drop?

Can you chose which weapon you want to earn as a reward after the maelstrom arena ? Or is it just dumb luck and could it take you 20 maelstrom arenas before actually receiving the staff?

    You can't choose which weapon you want. It is just dumb luck and it could take you 20 100 maelstrom arenas before actually receiving the staff.

    Its RNG. You do not get to choose.

    When it was just non-perfected weapons from vet I got the inferno on my 8th run and lightning on 29th. When they changed it I got the perfected inferno on my 2nd run and still no lightning.

    Can take way more than 20 runs from my experience. But as it's a drop from a normal also it's not a biggie. Got inferno on a first time on another server after reaching cp160, it's a breathe on normal.

    It is RNG. You are guaranteed a non perfect weapon on normal and a perfected weapon on veteran. Could be on the first run, could be on the 50th.

    Most of the run counts you hear about, however, have been greatly exaggerated.

    When I re-farmed for a bit after perfected weapons were introduced, I got 4 inferno staffs in 5 runs. Still missing a perfected bow...

    Yep, what everyone has said - you have to get lucky.

    Bonus is, after you've done it a few times, it becomes quite easy and you can pop on an XP scroll whilst you wait for what you want to drop.

    Then when you get it, you never have to go back there ever again.

    Look forward to that kind of RNG as it's all throughout the game. Want that arena staff? Better prepare to run it a dozend times more than you enjoy it. Looking for that one dagger from DLC dungeon X? Go no-life on it. Yeah, at least it is consistent.

    Ok i hoped i could chose !
    Have started a maelstrom arena 2 months ago and am still in wave 5. To many other things to do in tamriel , haha!
