    the information i can give:
i run double dagger on my magplar since this update and it works brilliantly. im around 80k on the iron dummy +/- 3k depending on the weaving (good god the jabs weave...)

if i find the time later this evening i will compare the infernostaff to the daggers directly and update this reply. (mechanical Acuity + Siroria + Zaan)

I LOVE that I can use dual-wield daggers on my magblade as it just fits thematically and visually with the class abilities! :) I use it front bar for ~75% spell crit chance and more DPS in dungeons than I’ve yet gotten with my other DD’s.

Axes, both 1h and 2h now increase crit damage and crit healing by set amount.

Swords, both 1h and 2h now increase weapon and spell damage by set amount.

Maces/Mauls, both 1h and 2h now give you a set amount of spell and physical penetration.

Daggers now give you a set amount of weapon and spell crit.

Additionally, in Markarth patch I believe, maybe the one before, they changed light and heavy attacks to scale from your highest resource. So a mag build with a sword, the light and heavy attacks will scale with Max mag and spell damage. Not sure if it's factored penetration in though....

I guess you'd want to test something other than mechanical accuity though, as when it's procced the daggers are useless.

indeed but i found that the daggers are helping during the downtime of MA, since the result was better with dagger than swords

Jabs weave, to put it simply is atrocious.
I don't remember it being this bad last patch, I dunno if they broke something.
I know the animation time and actual tick/channel time is not synced up since last they messed with it, but rn it's really bad.
They really need to have someone test these things.
On my magDK whip weaves like a dream, but jabs, lol..

Its terrible. You'll need a gcd addon. It follows the global cooldown, not the animation.

You can input the LA > P.Sweep command before the last jab of the previous P.Sweep hits and the whole thing will still go through at the end of the animation. You'll know if you did it too early if your toon doesnt do LA.

Yeah jabs used to have a longer channel time, and when it was reduced they didn’t change the animation to match. So now we have no visual queue when to start the next weave and cast, it has to be done when the previous animation is still playing, and there’s a narrow window to get the perfect weave with channeled/cast time skills already. I’d recommend using a GCD tracking addon if you’re on PC.

The same applies to cast time skills like Crystal Frags spam, they feel awful to weave because the timing is unforgiving and the animation does not match the GCD timing. I haven’t tried Dark Flare or Snipe recently, but I’m guessing both are misleading after the recent cast time reduction.

On the topic of mag dual wield, daggers also help to mitigate the loss of crit this patch. Light Armor dropped from 10% to 5-7%, and Mother’s Sorrow lost another 3.4% crit. Dual daggers approximately make up this difference with the Twin Blade and Blunt passive.

Dual wield light attacks do scale with Magicka, Spell Damage and Spell Crit now, but they don’t benefit from Spell Penetration. Physical Penetration is useful even in Magicka groups for this reason, and sets like Tremorscale can help.

So daggers are the way to go? I'm playing a magNB or are swords more useful?

Generally in PVE you’ll want daggers, especially on nightblade. Swords can work on some Necromancer or Acuity builds (not mandatory, daggers are still fine), and maces can be good in PVP where you need more Spell Pen. Axes are universally trash now.
