is selene change bad?

in dungeon i would see almost everyone i encounter in pugs use selene. now days i rarely see them use it. i know the proc mech has changed but im not good with numbers. did this reduce the overall dps?
if its not recommended what would you recommend i use instead for my stamblade. have been so attached with selene i never tried anything else.

At this point, it's probably best to run 2 crit pieces, like Slimecraw and Grundwulf.

Selene was an outlier before. A lot of damage, very often.

Now it is in line with most other Monster Sets.

Domihaus is pretty nice for stationary fights, otherwise 2x 1pc crit is probably best.

On my stamplar I also like the Blackrose DW because I have plently bar space for Deadly Cloak.
You gain a lot of defense (major evasion + 6% reduced dmg) and 6% extra dmg done which is quite good for a 2pc set.

Not sure if it’s about Selene or changes in general. I think many stams do not run 2pc monster set currently; you can drop one piece for a mythic, such as pale order, and have only 1pc monster set or double bar arena weapons (vateshran daggers, blackrose daggers, maelstrom bow) and run both Relequen and Kinras on body and jewellery. The latter is what I believe many are doing currently, but I don’t know if it’s majority or minority or what..

I wouldn't run Pale Order in PVE group content unless you're running with no healer

If it's HM I never do. But if it's normal or even some vet I run it on my stamplar. They can save their mana for themselves.

The original poster specifically mentioned pug runs, and there I wouldn’t be surprised at all to encounter rings of pale order due to the amount of bow-holding werewolf “healers” pulling everything before the tank. (I’m definitely not encouraging to do it, just speculating the reasons for no selene bears in dungeon runs you don’t usually even need it)

No prob. Just seen a few pug runs where the pale order ring makes its appearance, its clear that the player also is not running a self-heal, but there is an actual healer. Typical result is a death on a hard-hitting boss. Its a pug, so its tough to get worked up about it, but I have seen some healers get a little testy over that ring.

As a 2H player the changes were an improvement. Pre-patch I was running Domihaus because it hit harder than Selene’s. Post-patch Selene’s hits slightly harder than Domihaus (it’s small...maybe 500dps). For DW players I think the changes were a nerf, but for 2H the proc rate actually increased.

In dungeons, I think a lot of players just run whatever Alcast says without testing for themselves, so if Alcast says Selene everyone will be in Selene, and if he says 2pc Crit everyone will be in 2pc Crit.

They didnt only ruin Monster Sets, they ruined everything that doesnt give Crit.
At the moment 90% of all Equipment is useless.

Something like 90% of the stuff was useless already before, and that might be an underestimation. It just changes with patches what is useless and what’s not.

I found ways to get around the ring as a healer. Typically involves the Undaunted blood fountain with the life steal to everything around you and the powerful synergy attached. Also Energy Orbs since it's rare for them to not want that tasty magicka/stamina, and activating the synergy heals them. Sadly I don't have the Olorime set so when it comes to the Major Courage buff they won't be getting it from my Spell Power Cure set
