Vateshran hollows arena drop manipulation by ESO

Hi ASO team,


I understand and knew that you modified your so call "rng" but it is to the point of ridiculous. But can you explain that i got the Vateshran hollows bow for 8th times straight?
That probability is 1/17 * 8 times. I could win lottery with that probability.

Please could you just let your "rng" be real rng instead? Or introduce a token system that allow players to trade in undesired drops to token that they can trade in later?
I dont want to quite ESO now because I had a great guild with great people. But is the game is manipulated in such a nasty way. Statistics show the truth.

    In defence of ZOS there is no reason why or for what gain they would want to manipulate the drops. Even if the drop chances of desired set pieces seems to cause a lot anxioty, I doubt that you can find manipulation there. Can someone else confirm they get the same result everytime? If only you could see the statistics of all drops.

    Run it on a class that can't possible use what you are after and it will drop like rain. Need a staff, farm it on a StamBlade, Sword & Board, use a Sorc, etc... Works every time. The RNG is definitely *NOT* fully RNG.

    last monday i did 5 vatheshran hollow run i got 5 ice staff fin a row
    come back wenesday
    did 1 run, got an ice staff again
    come back friday did 3 run
    got 3 bow in a row

    very fun RNG!

    their could be a quick solution since now their is a sticker book generate a new loot table before rolling out the loot using the sticker book and the treasure hunter traits... multiply chance of getting something you dont have collected by 3 and divide chance of getting something you have collected by 3...

    so that will increase chance of getting something you never collected, and reduce chance of getting something you have collected already, and give additional perks to treasure hunter passive :pensive:

    been proposing a new green tree passive along those lines for a while. green tree has by far the least points to put into. so no real need to overload treasure hunter one. Add it as a new one.

    "Increase chances to get uncollected versus collected gear by x% per stage" with 5 stages.

    Got 6 or 7 perf. ice staffs in a row, never went back in since then.

    But you call it RNG /manipulated RNG.

    and its not 1/17 * 8 its 1/17^8 or 1/6.975.000 so yes lottery level odds.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.

    bow and resto are sole member of their weapon slot. while destro has 3 and others have 4.

    looking at drops I always wondered if zos first rolls for weapon type. then for which particular kind of that type.

    would explain why bow/resto seem to drop so much more often.

    Honestly I feel like it always seems like the thing you want takes forever to drop. When I farmed hollowfang it took so many runs to get the parts I wanted. And with medusa it took me ages to get a damn inferno staff. I'm not saying there is a system in place to do this but RNG is a pain in general.

    I'd like it if they did more drops in dungeons and trials on weapons and jewelry. Seems like there's a small chance for weapons to drop from chests and then you might get a weapon from the final boss and who knows even if one drops if it will even be what you're looking for.

    How about MA? I ran it 10 times, 2-3 times on different days, and i always get the same axe and mace.

    I ran HRC 53 TIMES for the 1h axe (tried a mix of normal and veteran)

    nMA I ran 20+ times for the bow, and the inferno staff never dropped once, so I gotta go back. Plus, now I'm higher level, i need to run it all again in vet for perfected.

    nVH I have run 26 times now, looking for those dual wield weapons for the hip new stam dd builds, stopped trying as it got a little boring (I think I actually prefer the BRP dual wields anyway)

    Then, on the flip side, I ran the dungeon for Hollowfang like only a few times for the items I needed for my healer. Same story for Yoln for my tank too.

    Pale Order I got all leads in only a few hours (Bad Man's was the longest) all the others dropped almost instantly, I think the chest one I got on the 2nd chest!!

    I'm currently sitting on around 8 Potent Nirncrux and about 30 Fortified (I like running around farming nodes while waiting for trial groups to fill up, if I'm not leading)

    My Perfect Roe droprate right now is 1.7% !!!

    Overall, there is no reason for ZOS to do these made-up manipulations you speak of, it's just random drops. If it was all super formulaic (e.g. do it x times and its guaranteed) you would be bored and would not last long in the game at all.

    If you feel like you cannot play without these items but you are not willing to do the grind to get them, perhaps this isn't the game for you OR perhaps that isn't the way you should play it, there are millions of ways to play, some of them require grinding.

    There is now *so much* content, that I believe it would be good to bias drop rates towards "things the player doesn't have" over "things the player does have". Taking less time to get what you want = more time to go and explore the rest of the game which ALSO has stuff that you didn't previously own.

    And? The managers want to know if new content gets played, how often, by how many players. They care about numbers as it translate into „successfull“ content. If a new dlc is dead after a month, why would they invest resources in even more new content?

    Same thing can be observed in daily login rewards, horse training, stretched story content in TG and DB dlcs etc. It’s really not rocket science or conspiracy. It’s common praxis.

    I've noticed this to. I always drop stamina setsore often on magicka toons the other way around, magicka sets on stamina toons. It has more than 30% accuracy so it's way way above random distribution.

    Drops work in the following way:

    First roll is made against 6 weapon groups:
    • Destruction Staves
    • Restoration Staves
    • 2handed weapons
    • dual wield
    • sword and board
    • Bows.

    THEN once the weapon group is derermined a second roll is made (example here)
    • Destruction staff > ice staff
    • Sword and board > axe and shield

    So you have 1 in 6 to get the particular weapon group, which is why people can see multiple weapon groups droping for them consecutively.

    Did you ran it across 100+ drops? Your sample pool and percentage is skewed by the ammount of RNG you had. 1/6 is a bow you hav 16.6% to get the bow each time. Bad luck mate, nothing more. Getting a particular destruction staff is very hard tho because its only 5,5%, so in practice you will have 94,5% chance NOT to get lets say inferno staff, while bows do not have a second roll.

    I ran MA/VMA around 30-40 times and never got a bow or inferno staff, which were the only things I wanted. Finally decided to do other things with my time.

    No only the arena. For example doing Murkmire dailies may end with the same 3 heavy chests and the same 2 light belts.

    Tokens are boring, but the current RNG uses mnaybe some static base for rand() that is silly.
