When is the need to repair armor?

Armor gets damaged, but when does it start affecting the performance of the armor?
Do I lose my enchantment, or if part of 5 piece set, do I lose the bonus when it is damaged?

Durability does not affect your armor until it gets to 0%, and from what I read when it breaks it only removes the armor value it provides as the set bonuses and stuff seem to keep on going. I could be wrong though, but still once the armor breaks you become easier to kill.

Completely broken gear is the same as not wearing anything. You'll lose set bonuses, X armor type equipped bonuses and so on. Don't want to let stuff break.

I let the Chefs take care of that, after all who knows better at repairing armor than the cooks?

There are setting (at least on PC) you can set to enable/disable little red broken armor/weapon icons that will appear in the lower part of your screen when your gear goes to zero.

In a nutshell, 100% to 1% armor condition is still good, 0% is not.

No need to really repair until you are at 20% or so, and even then, that is so you can go do something and not worry about it.

Also, it is Experience earned that degrades your armor, not taking damage. So, if your grinding champ points on experience boosters, you will need repairs more often. Some of my crafting mules have broken their armor just doing writs.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

When my addon automatically repairs on the rare chance I talk to a regular merchant or from the stack of Grand repairs I keep on everyone.

Be nice if master crafters could fix their own armor.....

Or buy duct tape from merchants.

You can buy repair kits that fully repair one item each.
