Templar Shards Able To Synergize For Two Players

PC NA ON 3/31/2021. Final boss fight in Vet Cauldron dungeon. We noticed two of us could synergize from one drop of Spear Shards (not morphed). We tested this several times and were able to get two synergizations per Spear Shard.
Looked and did not see any changes for more than one synergy per shard drop. Is this working as intended now?
