How does exp share work in group?

A mob with a single person will gain 100 exp.
How about groups of 2 3 and 4? ( No source exp bonus )

I remember a while back reading a guide written by kevduit, iirc a group of 2 gives 5% xp bonus.

However 3 or more gives diminishing returns - ie you will get less xp than playing solo.

Maybe out of date now (idk) but it’s a rule I’ve stuck to when trying to level fast.

Edit: to cover both angles, you could potentially argue that if you can clear things faster with a larger group you might gain more xp in the long run due to clearing instances / whatever much faster and repeating (don’t have the maths to back this up though).

Read somewhere that an 3 man group would earn the same xp as solo while 4 or more would reduce the xp gained.
Also think group dungeons mob give less xp than arenas or overland mob so even dungeons with tons of mobs like wayrest 2 don't gives lots of xp.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The XP goes down in anything higher than 2 people.

Extra ways to get xp bonus:
    • 5–15% Alliance War Keep bonus — applies only to XP from kills
    • 50-150% Crown Experience Scroll
    • 10% ESO Plus
    • 10% Grouping
    • 50% Psijic Ambrosia
    • 10% Rings of Mara
    • 2.5–86% Training Trait — applies only to XP from kills

i need some specific number when playing with 3 or 4 players in a group rather than solo or 2. Like i killed a troll and gain 100 exp total, if add another players so both will gain 90 exp for a total of 180 exp or something like that, 3 players 240 exp total, 4 players 280 exp total. So the more the better total exp?

I did some testing with my guildies at the weekend, we did 4x runs of skyreach in a group of 2 then in a group of 3 and when in a group of 3 our XP gained dropped by 41%, the duo group was getting 121k per run, the 3 player groups was getting 86k

    86k per or total sir?
    If per 121 x2 = 242k total, 86 x3 = 258k total?

No, the best is a group of 2, if you run it solo you get about 106k ish

So it seem more players = more total exp but less exp per player. Thank you !

So are we saying groups of 3 (or even 4) are better than 2 if it means you're killing faster then, even despite lower individual exp gain per kill)?

No, a sky reach run takes us around 4 mins in a group of 2, in a larger group its not much quicker.

You would have to kill things 50% quicker just to match the XP from a duo group, 100% quicker to get a noticeable gain in the gross XP earned

Yeah, definitely not worth it for Skyreach but any thoughts on say BRP (which does drop more xp, but, for me anyway, takes a bit longer to complete 4 rounds vs Skyreach 3 pulls).

Fast leveling on Alik'r dolmens work better solo, rather than joining a dolmen group, tested out myself.

nBRP takes around 5-6 mins for us to run on two mag temps/blades in training gear so we are still up on the 'xp-per-min', one thing to keep in mind with skyreach is you get loot from the mobs and because you walk out the door, I personally find the time it takes to reset is a little quicker than BRP.

Basically to grind xp in a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game you get better xp by playing with yourself or 1 other person..... Not by playing with an actual group doing actual content...... Yep there ya go Elder Scrolls Offline pretty much sums it up if you wanted to play with more than 2 people for xp gain.

I mean, each mob gives more XP total when you are in a group, but that's divided by the number of people in the group.

This is an advantage if you are in an area where more people will kill more mobs per hour, but not in an instance where there is a set number of mobs and their spawn times limit how fast you can kill them.

And playing in an actual group and doing actual group content is a lot of fun and gives pretty decent XP too.

But all the Skyreach farmers never went through the doors to see what the rest of the Catacombs look like, so they will never know.
