Yes this is an addition to the other poll currently running about which method players prefer. It made me curious and I wanted to ask my own question.

I haven't split out the options by format because I don't think it makes a difference, but leave a comment with more details if you think it's relevant.

ESO is on both ps4 and xbox consoles, where everyone is using controllers... are you asking PC players only, cos thats not clear and the inclusion of console players will somewhat skew the results.

I have only played using keyboard + mouse.

I feel like I coudn't play that kind of game with a controller.
It's purely personal, though, I have no qualms agains people that do.

Controller walking is amazing !

As is controlling mount speed!

When I adventure I use the controller.

Managment and serious content I use g13 & g600

There's quite a few people on this forum who have played ESO on more than one machine (or currently play on more than one). It's also possible to connect a controller to a PC or a keyboard and mouse to a console, so even if you haven't switched formats it's possible you've tried different inputs.

I'm not expecting or hoping for any particular result, I'm just curious because another poll asked which input method players prefer, and I found myself thinking I can't be the only one who hasn't tried more than one option but I wanted to find out.

Not this game, but I had a PS1 a long time ago. Controllers don't work for me.

I have only played using keyboard + mouse.

Don't see any reason to try a controller, as I have access to a k&m. /shrug

I know from playing console games, that I'm absolutely horrible at anything requiring aim & accuracy with a controller. (which is a shame, since I've missed out on a variety of apparently-good console exclusive games over the years. You should have seen the utter disaster that was my attempt at the Uncharted demo way back when. )


edit: I do have an XB controller for my PC, but I use it for things that need it - ports of console action games (like Bastion) & JPRGs, and driving.

Both, but I prefer keyboards for writing software and controller for playing games.
Modern controllers have more horsepower than the original consoles did. lol

You cannot use K&M on console. Can use Keyboard for chat though and is a must. I play on Xbox and PC and I use controller on pc mainly too. I enjoy being more relaxed and a controller provides that.

You cannot use K&M on console. Can use Keyboard for chat though and is a must. I play on Xbox and PC and I use controller on pc mainly too. I enjoy being more relaxed and a controller provides that.

PS4 and Xbox supports it as long as the game does, which ESO does not.

I have tried both a controller and keyboard + mouse.

During my time on PC I tried both. What I found worked best is binding a key to swap to K&M for menu navigation and controller for combat. Felt like the best of both worlds.

I have only played using keyboard + mouse.

I played other games with a controller and it's really not my cup of tea so I didn't try with ESO. For me controllers are only better when playing 2D platformers, and figthing or racing games. Other than that I'll stick to the mouse and keyboard on my PC.

I technically use both. I play on PC, and use a controller for gameplay, and my keyboard for chatting.

I am pretty sure you cannot use keyboard and mouse with a console, though happy to be corrected. (you can use a keyboard for text)

You can of course use a controller on the PC, yes.
