180 CP Item Level Cap is on its way [Contains conspiracy theories]

Mark my words, I believe it's coming pretty soon. Before collectible item sets, it would *** everyone off but now.... Since everyone will be able to craft their sets without ever needing to farm again, this change is inevitable.

This is what I've managed to dig up and preview by some manual tampering on stuff. I could increase it up to 170 and 180 CP but not 190, which made me think, "Why?". Probably because it's already partly implemented.

So what are your thoughts about this? Can it be real? Would it be fun to farm and create every piece of item we have from scratch? How would it affect the game?

If they raise the item level then they'd better give us a way to raise our cp 160 gear to the new cap or that would be the nail in the coffin that makes me quit the game for good

Oh goodie! It's been such a long time since ZOS kicked me in the nuts, I was hoping to get something I hated soon!

If any of this is true, I'll be a bit pissed. They just nerfed us to combat power creep ostensibly, so if they turn around and raise the gear cap with Blackwood it'll sure feel like a double middle finger from the devs.

If it's coming, they should wait a while longer.

    soon.

170-180 code has been in the game since Orsinium. Also, post One Tamriel, what effect would raising the cap even accomplish since all enemies would just be leveled 180 anyways.

I think they already did. Item collections does that in a way. You would only need transmute crystals, lots of them...

This is not gonna happen because even with the collectable system it will make people angry because yes you can get your set back quickly but what about the upgrade mats.... if you golded out a set only for the cap to be raised people will be really mad still because not everyone can afford to instantly gold everything out again and with the ridiculous cost increase to mats and enchants this will not be a smart move from zos.... a lot of people are already annoyed with the cp grind.... imagine if you tell them that they will now also need to remake and regold all the armor sets on all of their characters.... a lot of people will immediately quit the game and move on to something else..... so no I don't think zos would do something that would anger their community as much as it would to do this

Yeah you can look up stuff like this in the game files since forever but last time this question was brought up in 2021 we were told it's not on a map and they see no point in it any time soon.

Already been done, not once, not twice, but 3 times before. From v10 to v12 to v14 to v16 with CPs. They changed, we golded. Yes people got ticked. We survived. If they do it again, it would not be any different. If anything, easier since we have far more gold to spend then back then.

no I mean raise the level of my gear that I farmed and spent a ton of gold upgrading to max on all my characters...if they expect me to recreate every piece using transmutes plus upgrading it all to gold across all my characters they're out of their mind. I've been playing since release thru all the ups and downs but this would finally kill the game for me and I wouldn't play it ever again

I'm sure players would love this because it's 100% fact that every single player who has ever played this game loves going back into maelstrom arena to refarm weapons.

So, I don't see zos changing the cap for two reasons.

Primarily, if they change nothing *but* the cap (ie scale the world and players to cp180), they forced every single person to regear for literally no reason. None. The way the game is scaling post 1 Tam, there is a set standard that everything is compared to. Raising the number might look different, but nothing will have functionally changed. "ZOS BAD" memes aside, who in their right mind would do this to a player base as anything other than an April fools joke?

The much more likely outcome is a new sort of power scaling. The issue here is, that entirely undoes 1 tamriel. If there are still 160 cp zones and the players are 180, that *is* a noticeable power difference. However, if they did that, the power creep could be gargantuan, and worse still if they decided to make 180 zones, scaling would no longer exist.

TL;DR: I see no benefit to ZOS upping this unless they're removing the thing that made them a prime choice of MMO in the first place.

Been here since beta and the last few seasons have been lackluster. If they did this it would make me take 180 degree direction away from the game. That is all.

The only way I would stay is if they upgraded everything with the unneeded change....
