More Character Slots, Please!

Why won't you let me?


I want to make more characters, but I want them connected to my main account where I spend all my money and have all my stuff. Ain't no way I'm buying/earning all the Collectibles and whatnot again on my secondary account(s), even if it were possible; which for many items, it's not. Not to mention all my inventory I spend so much time hoarding collecting. And a half dozen other reasons I shouldn't have to list.

Sell me more slots. Even at double the price, I'd buy em. And I'm just not spending that money on other accounts. You're leaving money on the table, Z.

Doesn't matter much to me, but it would give me something to spend my crowns on. I would have to create leveling gear again as I deconned my old set after character 18. I would like to see the Greymoor intro, though I suppose I could just create an EU character to see that.

More slots, yes please... I have 3 other accounts but like the OP, I really would rather play my main one with all my fancy crown costumes, unlocked dyes, etc.

Maybe with the Blackwood chapter we'll get some more slots? The preview event is today, so I guess we might get word soon.

Please let this one hire some new staff. How can this one be expected to manage so many businesses and temples and educational establishments with only 17 of them?

That is barely enough to sweep the village, do the laundry and bottle all the moon sugar rum.

They said they won’t do more slots until after they replace the servers. Given that the current servers are at end of life, I would think it’s probably wise to hold off until then.

Aside from one poster who claims they already did the replacement but provided no source, I’m not aware of when specifically they’re supposed to be doing that other than by the end of the year.

I just got my last (of 18) character to 50 in blacksmithing. Now I'm just selling all my intricates. Time for another slot?

I am curious why exactly they are tying the increase to server replacement. Is it because of how they are storing the data and they can change that as part of a migration? Such as using a document store with a fixed number of slots for the sake of being able to update in place? Adding slots if the max was 18 would require updating everyone's data to a larger max (with space for future expansion). Consider how low the percentage is of people with a lot of characters, that would mean a lot of empty space.

I only mention this to point out that there can be all sorts of practical implementation reasons for capping things beyond "server isn't fast enough."
