Regarding the Current Furniture Plan Cycle for Year of _

I hope I am not the only one who has been bugged by this. But the current order established with Greymoor goes a little something like this:
-Dungeon DLC: New Master craft/Document Pouches

-Main Chapter: Common Furnishings to flesh out a home (chairs, tables, lights, etc.)

-2nd Dungeon DLC: Structural Furnishings sharing a theme with but not included in the main chapter

-Zone DLC: Common Furnishings to suit the new zone dlc (chairs, tables, lights, etc.)

-Q1 of next year DLC: A batch of structural furnishings to match the previous Zone DLC and mastercraft from any part of the previous year.

TLDR: Document Pouches > Main Chapter Furniture > Chapter Structures > Zone DLC Furniture > Zone DLC Structure Furnishings.

Isn’t this a little backwards? Wouldn’t I want to be able to create the structure first, and then fill it with matching furniture?

As someone who likes to make custom builds, I have to wait for the structure plans to truly get started with the furniture, which the structure plans may or may not ever come... I like the surges of structure plans, but maybe the order in which they come out could be rethought.

Remember that they tend to release city houses with the chapter update and then release plot like houses in Q3. (still waters, moon-sugar etc).

That is a fair point, though personally I like to use structural furnishings in order to alter homes. For instance, Stone Eagle is a fine home, but I could use a wall to close in a kitchen area, or make buildings out in the courtyard. I love Stone Eagle, but I also like the option to make it truly “mine,” if that makes sense. Plus Zenimax has a habit of releasing homes that are either lots of corridors or not being sectioned properly into rooms.

Just a side note I thought of based on my observations. Whenever I go to people’s houses, building tends to start at an even faster pace when the structural furnishings come out, as if people were biding their time for something to frame their homes. I’ve seen base game homes (non-plots) transformed into towers, cottages, scenes from movies, etc. During the chapter itself, people seem to be more focused on farming plans than building, as if the interest isn’t as high unless spurred on by a contest.

The second Dungeon DLC (Stonethorn) had Master Writ Furnishings specifically related to Greymoor (Solitude Loom, Vampiric Chandelier, etc.). Flames of Ambitions released Master Writ Furnishings related to Markarth (Dwarven stuff, another Vampiric item, etc.). There's sometimes one or two in the new items that aren't strictly related to the previous content, but the majority are.

That's been the same for years now.

Dungeon DLC launches always have Master Writ Furnishings for the previous Zone Content, and apparently now also include the release of structural Furnishings that also correspond to the previous content.

I guess the idea is that if you didn't buy any homes in the past batch of content, you'll be able to just build your own on one of the increasingly prevalent "Large open area" style homes later down the road.

For example, if you own Stone Eagle Aerie, odds are you aren't dying to get all the Markarth Structures since the house is made of them.

@B0SSzombie I guess that makes sense. I’m just so focused on the sentiment of “building blocks first, then fill it after” as building doesn’t happen the other way around.

It still seems a little strange to me that the Main Zone chapter, the supposedly bigger one with more content, is later made obsolete by its Zone DLC. Western Skyrim was dead as soon as Markarth dropped. After all, why would people farm Western Skyrim if Markarth is able to drop both Solitude, Vampiric, AND the new Markarth style? So the structure plans come out later and further make Western Skyrim obsolete. The smaller DLC has just enough content if not more than the main one, but with less delves and world bosses so we’re doing the same two things over and over for plans.

Drip feeding is just the way games do it these days to keep people playing really.

I mean if the alternative is starting with the structures and then drip feeding me the lights/ bedroom furnishings/ dining stuff..... I think I'd rather have the structures later then any of those alternatives. As someone said we tend to get a townhouse first and I'd rather have the stuff to decorate that earlier.
