Just noticed - Templar can do AOE Ele Drain with two skills.

The famous Ele Drain gives Major Breach and Minor Magicka Steal single Target.

Radiant Aura (Templar specific) gives AOE Minor Magicka Steal
Razor Caltrops provides AOE Major Breach

Put them together and you got AOE Ele Drain. Granted it takes 1 skill more to apply - But come on.. AOE Ele drain!
Everything is debuffed and you get magicka steal for hitting everything. Put down an alter and you also heal when you hit everything.
3 skill super combo.

Probably been known for years in the healer community, but I'm rather proud of myself XD

cool but it's 2x slots with 2x skills that you need to manage uptime/resources for just to get a custom aoe version of 1 skill

I agree it's definitely not without cost. More micromanagement and another skill slot is the price.

But... If you do... It becomes like the Oprah Meme!

You Get a Eledrain, and you get an Eledrain........ Everyone get an Eledrain! (And some heal with alter XD)

The tank will already be sticking major breach on any enemy durable enough for it to matter due to taunting with pierce armour, so worrying about major breach as a healer isn't a high priority as far as I'm concerned.
Its the minor magicsteal that healers slot ele drain for.

I've been using radiant aura instead of ele drain on the templar healer for as long as I can remember, and I've yet to recieve any calls to replace it with ele drain or to slot caltrops as well.
The warden healer usually uses ele drain.

If anybody's got a reason to prefer ele drain to radiant aura in PvE, feel free to interject.

Altar's a good skill to slot if the tank isn't running it however.

In practice you would be casting Aura and Caltrops so often it would negatively affect your overall performance. It turns out it is simply better to cast Ele Drain on the boss and leave it at that.

You don't need magicka return on every single mob, just the main one, as long as you are hitting it once per second, since there is a 1 second CD on magicka steal. And basic mobs generally die so fast that you don't really need Breach on them either.

Radiant Aura is incredibly unreliable with applying Minor Magicka steal - that’s at least my experience with it (in PvP).

I think the new magic damage status effect is going to eventually result in a lot of healers dropping ele drain. Why slot a dedicated skill when minor magickasteal is probably already going to be present most of the time from DPS's magic damage?

Altar's a good skill to slot if the tank isn't running it however.

Resto staff siphon spirit provides minor magickasteal and healthsteal and has longer duration than elem drain (no synergy though, nor breach but that's tank's job) so one skill can replace, more or less, the main utility provided by both elem drain and altar.

When templar tanks(pve) were more viable radiant aura was used to pull large mobs as activating it is aggressive unlike siphon spirit/elem drain.

    Good point.
I'll admit to forgetting about the new version of syphon spirit half the time, despite leveling it up on 6 different characters just in case back when it was meh.

Probably best to default to siphon, and only switch to radiant aura if the tanks running altar.
