Friendly AOE colours

I don't have a problem seeing enemies aoe and avoiding standing in "red." But - even though there's an option for friendly AOE under settings/gameplay/combat/custom colours I never see freindly AOE's on the ground. It's not a gamebreaker but it would ne nice to know where the healer's got stuff down in groups, and where my AOE's are down solo. Some of them last 22 seconds and if you're getting knocked around you can lose track.

Does anyone know how to make this feature work, or of an add on that shows your AOEs on the ground, the same way enemies's AOE are marked in red so you don't "stand in stupid"?

While I get where you are coming from, imagine the situation in a Raid. AOEs from enemies already block each other out so that there can be 1 or 6 different aoes on the ground and you wouldn't really be able to see that. It would make the picture unbelievably cluttered.

Hollowfang-Set for example leaves a friendly-AOE on the ground. And while that is not a big deal, if you would put friendly AOE markers, you get minimum 4 healing-AOEs from 2 healers + maybe someting from one or two tanks, maybe another healing set with AOE is used. You just end up having a complete clusterf*-- on your screen.

In PvP there are more indicators.

If they'd implement that you can see every friendly AOE on the ground (or even only the healing ones) I would hope they put a function in to just turn it off.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm not suggesting they should implement a feature where this is mandatory. I'm saying I think there's already one to have it optionally. It just doesn't seem to work (the test function does, but nothing happens in practice). I'm wondering if there's a way (settings / add on) to enable it?

I agree in a raid, it would be a pain. But solo, it would be a help - my DK wears elfbane and while eruption lasts 22 seconds it only has a 5 metre radius. When the boss has sent me flying, I actually struggle to see where it is to reposition him.

Groups, I dunno. I'd like to try it, if only to see what the healer's putting down where. but I suspect you're right, it would turn into a sound and light show and you'd end up turning it off.

Oh ok then I missunderstood you/focused on the wrong part of your question. My bad.

I don't think there is an ingame way to get that. As I said, there already are friendly indicators for some sets like Hollowfang so I guess ZOS chooses which aoe get that marker for the reasons I pointed out above. so no ingame way to do that

I just did a VERY QUICK search through addons, but I didn't see anything. But maybe you will find something. I am just not aware of it.

Ah, well thanks for looking. I'm guessing the thing I found in settings wasn't implemented / got broke at some point and given, as you say, it's probably a very niche thing to want, they never fixed it.

Ill do a bit of digging but stick to the other option Ive found - pull the mob to some obvious marker on the floor and cast it there. there's sort of a black cloud where it goes off I just lose it in the sound and light show.

I agree it would be nice to make friendly AOEs more visible on a case by case basis.

I also have 'friendly aoes' cranked up in brightness and opacity, but it only shows for a few abilities in practice. Hollowfang is the most common.

NPCs and environmental effects often show up with the special colors, for instance the cleanse areas in Maelstrom Arena's poison level and at Ruins of Mazzatun dungeon, etc.

I think it's disabled for the majority of player-sourced effects though. The designers may feel most abilities have their own tells, or don't last long enough to bother tracking.

Like Templar Shards are pretty visible without a green aoe tell on their own. But some abilities are harder.

And I don't recall any self-sourced AOE that is visible to yourself except Hollowfang. The game seems to assume we know where we're putting our own stuff.

Seeing things in a fight is tricky but you CAN practice. You may also want to adjust your standard brightness/gamma to see things easier. Cast the ability as you go around the world and watch how it behaves on the ground. You'll be able to pick it up pretty quickly.

Laying multiple AOEs on top of each other is frequently helpful too. Drop a healing AOE right on a damage AOE when you melee a monster, only keep track of one area.

The friendly AOE only works in PVP. It does not work in PVE. Sincerely, I wish it would. Then I will deal with the light show, but at least I want the possibility to choose, since it is player-bound anyway. Any addons that can do that?
