Rate my Sorc

Just looking for a general input on my current build and gear. I mostly run overland stuff, while doing random norms and sometimes vet, goal is for vet, running non pet build:

Gear- 5 Julianos, 5 Mother's Sorrow, 2 Ilambris, 5 light, 1 med, 1 heavy with undaunted passive
Build: Front Bar: force pulse, empowered ward , c frag, inner light, bound armaments ult greater storm atro
Back Bar: necro orb, unstable wall, haunting curse, inner light, barbed trap ult: destro staff

points deducted for not being pet. I don’t like pets either and that’s why I’m not playing mag sorc. And point deducted for force pulse ( I just don’t like it).

I like armament and inner light but I think more damage abilities might render better results so point deducted.

Not a bad build though.

Also I’m no expert so take my rating with a grain of salt

For the content you do it's an alright rounded build. Dunno why you slot Orbs if you play as a solo damage dealer. I personally use Channeled Acceleration from the Psijic line over Trap for that crit damage buff, but they both do the job. A screenshot of your character stat sheet would've been nice though. You could also replace Atronach with Meteor to get a bit more Magic to use.

Mystic Orb is actually really strong for solo content. It deals more damage than typical AoE DoTs.

If you're not using Spellpower potions, you want a source of Major Sorcery. It's a huge damage boost. Surge or Entropy (Degeneration morph) are your 2 options. Can ditch Inner Light on backbar for it.

wow... I guess I shouldn't have said anything about solo, I'm not really a solo player, always in a group no matter what I'm doing. But anyway, I am working on channeled acc from psijic to replace barbed trap. I did morph ward wrong, I'll be fixing that, ilambris all I have right now, also working on that, I like force pulse for weave over imbue wep, cant get the hang of weaving with a buff, and ele drain, boundless storm, and crit surge are simply absent because not enough room on bars for other things needed. Weapons are both mother sorrow, 1 fire 1 shock, all gear divines, weapon infused and precise, all max magic glyphs, weps are increase spell dmg, jewlery 2 bloodthirsty 1 mag recovery, cp... too much to write. hope this improves my rating even a little lol

I just level my Magicka Sorcerer yesterday and equipped him with 5x Julianos, 5x Mother's Sorrow, 2x Ilambris. I am aiming to get Medusa for Jewelry and Weapons now and get the vMA staff for my backbar.

I hate the pets of the Sorcerer class so i went with a no-pet setup too. Depending on the content i tend to swap some abilities from time to time. Like Elemental Rage or Mages' Fury (with Elemental Weapon) for trash fights for example.

You can easily swap Degeneration for Channeled Acceleration when someone covers Major Sorcery (either pots or Dragonknights). If sustain is a problem you can slot Consuming Trap.

Sorry, I was teasing a bit. Ilambris is okay. So is Julianos. They are considered Mid Tier. Not good, but okay.
If you get Maj Breach through the group, there is ni need for Ele Drain. 🤷‍♂️
In overland even Boss Fights rarely last longer than 34 seconds. So a precast of channelled acceleration is fully sufficient for minor force. Bith are irrelevant with Medusa.
Shock backbar is disadvantageous if you are fire front, and vice versa. You are nit doing shock damage on your frontbar, so no concussion. 🤓
Bloodthirsty is also debatable. I would recommend Infused for every Sorcerer because of the Amplitude passive.
If you have the money for Spell Power Potions and a real healer in the group, you do not need Crit Surge. If not, Crit Surge takes precedence over anything else, after Wall of Elements.
If you are ranged you do not need boundless storm. But that only happens with a competent tank around.☝️

Curse is a spammable option most people ignore. Especially Daedric prey is cheap and hits hard. But do what you like! What feels, better is better....👍

How do you get dps if you use Deadric Prey as spammable? It only deals damage after x amount of time.

Maybe you mean Frags as spammable is as spammable? Thats works pretty well once you get used to the timing, another benefit is that you gain an extra slot on your front bar.

You are right. Its not a "spammable" per se. Lets call it a suplemental then?
Curse is not so good anymore I guess. What I did on a pet build is heavy attack twice between curses. But that was before. 🙄

Why do you think Ilambris is only okay? It works perfectly fine with lightning and fire staff, is easy to proc, has high uptime, is very good in cleave/trash fights and only falls short of around 1-2k DPS compared with Zaan (which is BiS afaik) in single target scenarios.

I would argue that Law of Julianos is one of the best sets together with Mother‘s Sorrow until you clear veteran trials and get access to False God’s Devotion or Mantle of Siroria, because it‘s so easy to use and is good for every type of content. There are only a few better (mostly proc) sets for certain types of content but LoJ is the generalist set imho.

I see Crit Surge as best sorc ability. It not only help with your dmg, but it is great in term of survivability.
Both Boundless Storm and Crit Surge have long duration. You can use them before fight.
I am not sure, that you actually use all your attack skills.
