Please fix shields! And sorc!

I am usually fairly thorough with patch notes... But didnt read anything about shields being immune to Crit again like long ago, but after some testing today in duels, it’s clear that shields are yet again immune to Crit, and retain their resistance.

This means sorcs don’t need to invest in Impen, and are immune to a huge part of the offensive from many builds - Surely this an oversight / bug?

In addition to that, can we suggest that elemental weapon does not work with overload? It’s day 1 of this update and we already have invincible mag sorcs streaking around, and able to 2 shot people with elemental overload...

If this is true, this is actually a good thing. Shields have been flat out awful since the introduction of them taking crit damage. Shields themselves cannot crit and they do not scale to the number of attackers. So a crit against a shield basically makes the shield useless.

I don't think it's shields that are the problem... I think they screwed up crit..
I haven't tested this yet but me and a couple other NB's were talking about how we don't get a guaranteed crit coming out of shadowy disguise any more. We've notice a couple other situations where we should be crit-ing but don't.

Going to do some testing tonight but I think they broke how crit works.

It has been reported numerous times, and there are threads detailing that cirt that should occur from stealth (crouching hidden) is no longer occurring since the update.

ZOS has visibly chosen to ignore the threads even though community managers have been called out.

Smells badly.

Nah not a good thing at all. On PS4NA at least, cyrodil was full of sorcs on day 1 all basically unkillable because they are immune to Crit (now that we don’t have malucath that’s a big deal) and they are retaining resistances on shields.

All the whole still able to wreck people by weaving overload and elemental weapon.

@ZOS_GinaBruno can you confirm whether the Crit immunity on shields was intentional? I can’t find it in any patch notes and it seems like a possible bug

Unless my brain has mixed something up I thought attacks never would crit on shields. Or at least that was the case in PVE when I rolled in that world.

If you mean you mean your own shields, NPCs never crit.

If you mean you critting on NPC shields, I don't know.

What I do know, is that they changed it a while back for players hitting other players' shields. They made them scale off max health, made them crittable and made them inherit your resistances/damage reduction buffs.

Took me 5 seconds of testing with a friend to check if this is true.
Its not.
Used binding javelin(since it Ignores resistances), tested both crit and non crit values without and with shields.
When you deal crit damage on a shield it doesn't show up in the ui as crit, but it actually does crit damage.
It's just a relic of the old days when shields were not crittable.
