So after arouind 15 days of clothing on 2 characters level 50 and 48 clothing i can now upgrade 1 item to gold. If i had one toon i assume i would get 1 per month. So once every 8 or 4 months i can upgrade a set to gold? am i missing something?

You can farm for materials and refine those and if you have enough points into crafting get drops to make gold gear. You can also do some other activity that makes good gold and purchase the materials. There are plenty of ways to increase getting the material you need. At lower levels it is tough though.

What you are asking makes no sense. If you have 3 skill points assigned to Tannin Expertise, upgrading one item to gold quality will cost you 8 dreugh wax (and some other minor improvement materials). If you have 800 dreugh wax, you could upgrade 100 items to gold quality as fast as you can click.

im leveling 2 jewelers and i haven't gotten the materials to even upgrade 1 piece beyond blue yet. i dont even see dailies for jewelers, i guess 1 daily per toon or someting? Where are the other dailies if 1 toon has more than 1 craft?

You upgrade armour (I assume that's what you mean) on crafting tables. If you have the money you can buy the mats needed from guild stores otherwise you need to harvest, harvest and harvest some more. Then refine the raw mats until you gain the items you require.

Are you talking about the daily hireling mail?

You will get more raw materials from harvesting nodes. These can then be refined into materials with a chance at also getting tempers.

The surveys you get from completing the daily crafting writs will get you the most materials.

The daily writs is where I have gotten most of my Dreugh wax, very rarely one comes in the mail. I don’t usually farm raw materials and refine them but if the return is decent I might try that

Do your writs. Put points to hireling. Do your research, it's even more annoying time sink than horse feeding and research done and styles and recipes learned affect writ rewards. Harvesting and refining the raw mats is really important source of tempers and not limited to daily. Make a habit of not passing by a node without harvesting it.

Crafting is very slow to level up, especially if we have neither much gold (to buy at trading center) nor much skill points (to spend on all the crafting sub-categories). If you're in this case, with also not much time to play (like me), then maybe my way that I describe below can help you.

Personally, after a few weeks testing, I decided to set priorities and to optimize the use of skill points:
    - I spent one unique point on visibility of the nodes/trees/plants. It makes it a lot more comfortable.
    - I didn't put any points on hireling (my experience was that I never got anything worth it).
    - I kept increasing only two sub-categories: the first one (recipe, level of mats...) and the extraction one (increasing level of what we get at deconstructing). I ignored the other ones, that I find "nice to have" only (not essential).

From there, I did the easiest and fastest one first: Provisioning. It was made very easy by parking into Artaeum, opening all the bags, crates and kegs around the cooking fire, and cooking non stop. I had it done in no time.
After that, I focused on clothing and woodworking, because that's the two of my armor (light) and weapons (staff). At same time, I have blacksmithing ongoing, but just with what I get from chests and farming and no invest of points, since I have no hurry for anything from this crafting.

During this whole time, I have jewelry increasing veeeeeeeeery slowly. Typically, I'm now around 45 to 50 for all crafting disciplines whereas I have jewelry still by 29! LOL

Regarding improvement of armor and weapon: up to now, for the content I do, purple is more than sufficient. So I don't bother about the mats needed for gold level. I let them pile up for later use. The mats for purple and blue are at reachable prices on trading center.

This way to go works very well for me, and if we take it easy (I dont' push it), there is no grinding feelings.
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

Just play the game, vend the white non-intricates and decon everything else you don't need or sell for ridiculous price and you have all gear crafts at 50 by itself. (But starting the research blues immediately is a good idea.) Alchemy and Provisioning can be levelled as fast you can press keys if you have mats and suitable recipes ready. Enchanting is the slowest to level by deconning free drops or as fast as you can afford glyphs to decon.
Edit: Doing occasional Alik'r dolmen ring until inventory full gives some good jewelry and enchanting decon fodder. I recommend not overdoing it.

Of course plenty of skill points are needed. Myself did Cadwells Gold just for skillpoints for my crafter...

To do jewelry crafting writs you need to go to Alinor in Summerset to get certified. As others have said, main source of refining materials coming from harvesting a ton (surveys get you a lot!) and then refining it — be sure to upgrade improved tannins/extraction/refinement/whatever it’s called for better decon as soon as you can afford to! That way you get more from refining raw materials and have to spend less on your upgrades. :) (I do this on one character only who is my main crafter and decon; other characters just main crafting line when I have the skill points and slowly slowly researching traits on them.)

The daily crafting writs on an character with maxed out crafting skills has an decent chance of dropping an gold temper.
However golding out armor is not that important, you want to gold weapons however.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
