1440p PC > 4k on PS5

So I recently bought the PS version all the way to blackwood and thought the 4k looked pretty good. However the frame rate just drive me nuts so I downloaded my pc version again. Honestly I was shocked at how much better 1440 was on my pc than 4k was on console. It was absolutely no comparison. I play both on the same 50" tv....I don't know but I was surprised to be honest. I really hope the console updates can fix this.

    Textures > resolution

Consoles may output a 4k resolution, but they don't use the maximum graphics settings. Better textures/shadows/particles/etc at 1440p will almost always look better compared to lower settings at 4k

ESO isn’t yet optimized for the new gen. We have to wait for the update later this year to profit from the new consoles. The only thing better on my Series X are loading times.

Yeah console are well behind graphically as its paired down for everyone. Either better effects but rendered at 1080p or 4k resolution and sharpness but compromised effects. PS4 base version has no options while the Pro has two choices.

When you put out a game for console it HAS to go through certification and run properly every time. PC doesn't have this requirement and can scale according to the user and machine. But the consoles have to have the games running properly on even the base versions.

This is why Cyberpunk was such a situation. Not only did it not look as advertised, it just didn't run even with compromised effects.

Sony and Microsoft have rules in place that even if your game runs best on PS4 Pro of Xbox One X, it still has to be fully playable on the base versions. This keeps the populations from fracturing.

Because PS5 and Xbox X are new generations they aren't beholden to such limitations. It's my belief that the PS4 and Xbox One versions have 2-3 years of life in them before they're sunsetted. After which the next generation takes over and technical development isn't limited by decade old consoles.
