Slippery CP in Scalecaller Peak

When you have Slippery CP equipped (the one where you automatically break free when you are crowd-controlled), and you do the first boss of Scalecaller Peak, you cannot do the ice mechanic because when you enter the ice cage, you'll automatically break free because the CP activates then you get blown up by the ice storm thing that follows you lol

Kind of funny bug, but I don't think it's intended

I've been wondering if it also breaks out from normally unbreakable stuns. But if it does, does that mean you can now solo the harvester boss in Wayrest II?

I can't believe this did not occur to me when I was doing this over the weekend. I repeatedly died to this mechanic despite playing it correctly. I thought I was taking a second one shot mech after the ice broke. This makes sense that the passive was triggering before the mechanic could play out.

You can break this stun with Precognition (Psijic ult) if Im not mistaken, some goes for the final boss in Blackheart Haven.

Never tried, as a DK that skill feels really bad. It restores my previous resources from 4 secs ago, when using it would restore quite a huge amount. Kinda meh.

I mean, it's working exactly as described when it frees you from the ice mechanic in SCP. It's just that for that particular mechanic, breaking free is bad.

They never said it will only Break Free when it’s to your advantage...

Unslot that star for that fight. Bloody Renewal/Siphoning Spells for use on the adds or Spirit Mastery if you need to pick people up off the floor would both be useful on that fight.

Perhaps but I would argue that the need to swap stars to avoid negative consequence was not intended. Swapping stars to gain a small advantage in a fight should be a thing such as optimal damage resistance, damage, free break free. etc.

A slotted star having a direct negative consequence in a fight is not great design. Keep in mind I have witnessed removing a single star and changing one slottable triggers the 30 second cooldown on swapping which I must sadly do all too often in the green tree. The CP 2.0 star slotting mini game is not enjoyable in the least.

Tried this dungeon today, veteran mode, and can confirm the bug exists. Would like to add a few things as well:

    1) It occured not only when the Slippery was slotted, but also when it was merely unlocked, but not slotted.

    2) The bug was as follows - when the Orzun spawns a Tremor AoE on the ground, I walked in freezing AoE and when it frozen me, I got instantly free and at that moment Tremor usually came to me and one-shotted me.

On this, my understanding is that the freezing AoE is marked as "control effect" and thus triggers Slippery. Possible solution would be to change it accordingly. Also, the question is - was that intentional (some stars not only being not helpful, but explicitly harmful in some cases)?

    3) When my teammate got into freezing AoE, got frozen, and I ran through another freezing AoE that was running through her at that moment, she broken free and got killed by her Tremor AoE.

Also, noticed that Orzun can break you free by attacks when you got frozen. Not sure if it truly exists, but two of four people of our team noticed this, and it wasn't there when I tried this dungeon last time a few months ago.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Please forward this topic for further investigation, since if it is the actual bug and not intended working of the new mechanics, it is a serious one.

Yes, I’d agree it was poor design. But as you noted, see the entire green tree for an example of poor design working as intended. If you aren’t constantly swapping stars there, you’re giving up on things like extra speed, mats, or gold. It isn’t combat power in the same way as the blue and red trees, but it seems that the devs really do expect some people to micromanage their stars like this.

A better comparison for Slippery in this fight might be the Major Gallop permanent passive effect and the new Gifted Rider CP star. 99% of the time those boosts are great, but when you’re trying to negotiate tight spaces or cliffs they can be deadly. Same with Steed’s Blessing. Mounts and characters are harder to control with these speed bonuses, even though in general the faster movement is great. I’m racking up a tally of all the times I end up going sailing off a long drop to a sudden stop thanks to the game engine physics.
