Why do my stamina toons only have 1400 penetration?

    Without any context I would say because you only have 1400 pen?

    My "we don't need a tank"-Stamplar has 10k pen and can put 8k armour debuffs on enemies, so it's just a matter of build choice.
    And if you play with a tank, bosses should have basically no armour left anyway.

    The weird thing is that when i log a stamina toon on , for a instant the penetration reads between 5 and 6 k then changes to 1400 which is ofcourse the amount i specced in.

    None of my magica toons have that problem.

    It was just today i was grouped with another fake tank , now i don't mind that as long as they 1 - have a taunt and/or 2 - can hold boss aggro.
    But this guy was hopeless , so we spent 90% of the time chasing the boss or being chased by the boss.
    the group got pissed and he complained that he queued as a tank because the dps queue took "too long"
    when he was reminded that the dps queue was something we all had to wait for , and asked what made him so special, he bailed ( and re queued as a tank ) looking for that carry.

    I too would like to boost my solo warden and sorc archers' pen. Running Spriggans x5, sharpened weapons and maxed CP in Piercing. Decent uptime on minor breach (snipe).

    I'm thinking about using one piece of Kra'gh's monster set (+1487 pen) instead of two pieces of Slimecraw (lose +5% damage) but that seems like it would be a wash vs bosses (I believe 500 pen is roughly equivalent to 1% damage) and a loss vs trash since I'd be overpenetrating.

    Also considered the top bonus from Night Mother's Gaze x5 which grants conditional major breach but that also seems like an overall loss since the cost would be to drop a better set (Toothrow on the sorc or Hundings on the warden).

    Am I missing anything?

    If you are looking at the character sheet's penetration value, I believe it's bugged. Try using a few skills, light attack a couple times and check the sheet again and it may show the proper numbers.

    It became freaking easy to archieve 18k pen atm. CP, Divines + Lover, Sharpened maul, major debuff from caltrops and you're already there. And then you also have minor debuff from the new physical dmg status effect. This is before any pen from sets or unnamed (de-)buffs.

    So OP you actually have to try hard to archieve such low pen values.

    There was a star in CP1 that gave you lots of pen, now it's replaced with some trash. Magicka builds get pen because light armor gives spell pen. Physical pen is harder to stack, especially in CP2.

    Yesterday, I discovered on both my archers (sorc and warden) that swapping volley out for caltrops (with its major breach but poor raw damage) got each of them a 10% dps increase vs our 3m hp dummy. The major breach brought both of them up to just under 18k pen and that seems to have made enough difference to stay with caltrops instead of volley.

    (My archers are solo and do bosses so I want them up close to 18k pen on their own.)

    Mind that Volley will continue to proc your backbar enchant even on frontbar. Depending on your build it might be optimal to use both skills. Especially with Maelstrom Bows.
