Dwarven Scarab Pet getting this thing is a joke.

A Mythic Item. All parts acquired by farming mobs in Bthar-Zel in The Reach. This is the longest freaking grind I've had so far. I've cleared out the mobs that drop this pet about 50 times now and managed to get three of seven leads. It's not that the RNG is bad it's that 90 of the mobs do not drop ANY loot. I started keeping track last night and ran through the entire zone 5 times and the drop rate of any loot at all is only 5%. There were two runs where NOTHING dropped off the mobs at all in the entire zone. I'm all about things taking time to acquire but this is horrendous! RANT OVER!

Not only that, but there are very few mobs and they respawn slowly. I've yet to have a piece drop.

Took me almost 8 hours of grinding that place nonstop.

It's a grind, no question, but it's there.

It’s definitely a time sink but nowhere near as bad as trying to farm ancestral reach motifs

I keep trying to do it thinking I'll at LEAST get some Dwemer scrap/frame out of it, but like you said, the vast majority of mobs drop absolutely nothing. I've never had a lead for the pet drop, period.

buy maps at trader. dig out chest. get motif every few chests. Easy peasy.

Yep on the chance that you get a motif drop at all with is a roughly 20% chance (or it used to be) you have a 1 in 14 chance to get the motif you need and they are ridiculously expensive at guild traders if you were to try to buy the individual pages. The dwarven scarab is definitely rough too but at least there is a guarantee you don’t get a duplicate piece.

It took me quite awhile to finally get the pet. It was a hell-of-a grind. Funny part...I'll never use it...

Same here, it's ugly but it's something I got started on sadly.

If it helps you put a time metric. I grinded hardcore during off hours. It took me around 11 hours total to get all parts (non-consecutive) but best if you are able to go through a circuit. There is one circuit where I found, suit well and can time their respawns (I believe it’s north-west side of the place).

Once I stopped hoping for them and just concentrated on looting the urns, I got the leads quicker than I had thought I would. RNG.

sell the duplicates to buy more treasure maps. or missing motifs.

I feel your pain, we all do I think. rng can suck, at the very least.
When I go there I run for +-20 min, if nothing drops in that period I just stop.
Tbh I don't really care about it because it's highly probable that I never use that pet.

I think it's bugged. Considering how most of the time the mobs don't drop anything at all, something isn't right. Since you can't get duplicate drops, if you already have the one, it will look like it dropped nothing.

I hate farming mobs of npc's. On of the most tedious and annoying things in game.

I stopped farming this thing. Now I only kill enough mobs on my way to a daily. Period. There are far too many other things more interesting than a pet I'll have hide during a trial

Dwemer scrap drops from the containers, not the mobs.

Well I managed to get the stupid thing today, it is so small I actually had to look around for it a few times before I saw it lol. Well worth the two week grind .
