Replacing the hammer

We know that factions stacking on the hammer is creating immense amounts of lag. The most logical thing to do would be to implement a mechanic that operates in a manner opposite to what the current one operates.

I imagine...on the same timer as the hammer would normally spawn...a Dragon coming down and targeting the first place factions keeps and players inside them. When 3 or 4 walls are down it moves on to another keep. The Dragon would be invulnerable and could not be controlled by players.

I feel as though this could have a significant positive impact on performance and balance in Cyrodiil by forcing the first place faction to spread out and repair the damage done. What are your thoughts?

I have no idea how this would impact cyrodiil, but I do believe firebreathing flying dragons randomly attacking would be AWESOME.

Perhaps have items spawn in random locations of cyrodiil that one player could pickup, and use it to lure a dragon by using it near a keep.

This dragon would obviously attack any faction at that location, but also damage the keep it was lured to, would add a nice little extra content to the game I think.

By the way, if you have other ideas for replacing the hammer let them be known here. By making this poll I'm not trying to suggest that this idea would be the only one viable.

Totally not a fan of the hammer. Since IC is overrun by daedra, I think a periodic ramped up daedric invasion of Cyrodiil would be fitting and shake things up.

Please, No more PvE in Cyrodiil, please.

You may replace the hammer by some other PvP items, but not a NPC (PvE) Dragon. NO.

If you read the post, you'd see that it's not an NPC as much as it is a natural disaster. And the result would be PvP, not PvE. Unless the leading faction won't repair their keeps, since then if will be PvE when the other factions kill the guards and flip the flags.

I like the idea, would suggest the dragon destroys all walls and doors of a keep, then moves on tho. Repairing one walls goes too fast.

No. The so called natural disaster is made by a NPC dragon. Just replace the hammer by something on "PLAYERS". Not any computer generated mechanics, what ever you call it, disaster, npc, force from oblivion, etc.

They should not Punish the winning faction, but may help the losing one.

For example, ZOS may simply buff basic stats of PLAYERS of he losing faction slightly, and buff their AP gain over a short period of time, to encourage PLAYERS actively help themselves.

I like the idea of the hammer being something other than a faction stacking nightmare, but it's controllable. I'm personally against the idea of random events like that in Cyrodiil. It would, at best, throw the map into chaos for a few minutes before organized groups figure out where to go and what to hit, with factions randomly gaining major advantages or disadvantages just like hammer. Only difference is it feels worse because its uncontrollable.

On the flip side, I was under the impression that daedric weapons would be expanded on and more would be added. Doesn't seem like that's the case or I was wrong.

This sounds like an excellent change as most of time the hammer ends up in the hands of the factions with the biggest zerg on every time, causing the polar opposite of the desired effect of the hammer. An untargetable dragon that doesn’t damage players directly or drops siege like AOEs around a keep randomly flying around shooting a fireball that breaks a random wall of the faction with most keeps every couple of minutes for an hour in replace of the hammer sounds like a much better idea that 1. Doesn’t give a huge group like an emperor zerg the ability to take the hammer from a small group and get another emp strength player demolishing already weak and loosing factions and 2. The dragon or keep destroying mechanic can add randomness to decentralise faction stacking by destroying walls at multiple factions at once, destroying walls at keeps that haven’t been touched for hours or days and spread for example the 3 bar locked emperor faction vs 1 bar on the other populations across 3 or 4 locations leaving essentially open keeps, giving the underpopulated factions a good chance to gain some ground.

If by “Replacing” you mean “Remove”. Than I support this idea
