Free Pelinal's Aptitude!

This has to be one of the saddest casualties heading in to a no proc meta for me. A meta where hybrids could maybe find their feet and thrive, but their main set which gives them any chance to compete is currently on that list of sets which count as a proc for the server, but that nobody would consider a proc.

It essentially means that if you want to build a hybrid build..... tough luck.

So I am asking for you to please find a way for Pelinal's Aptitude to be added to the available sets for PvP in Cyrodiil.

I don't understand how that set is a proc ..
It gives a full time bonus when worn.
What constitute a proc set? I thought it was a set that proc'ed an effect based on certain condition/percentage. The pelinal's bonus is constant, I don't get it ..

The definition of a proc for this ruleset in Cyro is "any set which has to make a server check is considered a proc."

This is why sets like Rattlecage, Pelinal's etc have ended up on it as the server has to check which of your WD or SD is higher and match them, or check if you already have major sorcery in Rattlecage's case. It's frustrating.

The Pelinal Bonus can change every second as different buffs (Major/Minor Courage, Sorcery, back/front bar set pieces, passives, etc) are added or removed from your character. Since it has to constantly change your lower stat to match your higher stat, it is constantly checking to see what the value of your higher stat is. And at the same time, it is checking to see which stat is higher.

AH, I see, yes, it makes sense, when put like this.
It's still a bit of a shame, though. I hope, that, at least, you guys get to enjoy better performance.

I have never understood this want for subpar builds like hybrid, or stam healers.

Well if they'd skip the pointless test and just implement the new servers they told us about this whole headache of performance in dense populations area might just improve..

I think people want these builds to be better than subpar.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the "Gandalf" playstyle of destruction staff and melee sword..& ZOS making this happen.

It's just unlikely will ever be successful with our attributes/weapon system as is.

A new skill line or class (Battlemage) made/built for hybrid play would be fun.

Yeah, I agree it’s not quite there yet. The last few updates have made some pretty big steps toward hybrid viability though. With all weapon type Light Attacks scaling off max damage stats, several weapon passives becoming hybrid, combining some buffs/debuffs like Breach/Fracture, and the new CP changes where you don’t have to pick between Elemental Expert and Mighty. We also have larger base Magicka and Stamina pools, and resources from Atrribute points and gear are less impactful. Dunmer and Khajiit are looking very good for hybrid builds, and Altmer, Orc and Argonian all received some hybrid stats recently.

TBH, some more recent sets like Shacklebreaker, New Moon and Stuhn's have helped with getting stronger setups with hybrids (innate axiom too if you can use a lot of class abilities) but having Pelinal's, Stuhn's and New Moon removed due to the proc situation has gutted hybrid set options.

There's been some talk of essentially having to go 5 Shacklebreaker, 4 Stuhn's and 3 Trainee/monster pieces and 1 trainee for hybrids now, which won't and can't give the same feeling as a true hybrid loadout like Pelinal's/Stuhn's or NMA or Shackle.

On live I am running 5 Pelinal's, 5 Shacklebreaker, 1 Domihaus and 1 Balorgh/Stonekeeper (situation dependent). With the new CP this setup looks solid for Cyro but I guess it will have to wait until ZOS decides on how to proceed.

They need half a year to do it. They’ve said the no-proc ruleset is currently “all or nothing,” meaning all proc lines are in or all out across all Cyrodiil campaigns.

That’s why they’re taking the next two quarters to change the code. So they can have proc and no-proc campaigns and have greater flexibility in terms of procs.
