Guild Trader Compromise/Solution???

You can't go for more than a few days without the mention of a central trader house and how it is in other games... then it starts a massive debate and war [snip]... What if there was an actual viable compromise??? Not only that... it would make trading very vibrant again for the entire community.

I'm suggesting a Trader Alliance Broker... One in each capital city (Wayrest/Mournhold/Elden Root) and maybe even in the DLC/Expansion capitals - Orsinium, Vivec City, Alinor, Solitude).

At this broker you can search the listings of ALL the traders combined. This would make searching so much easier, and would also mean the price of city traders would lower considerably, whilst making the "out in the world" traders much more viable and lucrative and worthwhile.

I would also suggest that when you find the item, it will tell you where it is listed/location. You would physically have to go there still to buy the item, or maybe add a "Broker's Fee" if you wished to purchase direct from the broker. I'd probably say about 25% or so to make it a gamble for a player to either pay that broker fee vs risking going to grab that item from the store front!!

Thoughts??

My first reaction is: “Please Stop”

I like the current system, it feels rpg friendly and it encourages player traffic to areas that would normally not see that many people.

But it’s becoming increasingly clear the servers would not be able to take the load of accessing all of the available auction items at once in one search. A centralized AH, even if it was just a directory, would just put too much stress on the server.

The only thing that imho could be done to improve current trading system globally, across the board, for every player (no matter if in trading guild or not) is really very simple and I am surprised it is not a part of the game since launch.

You see, guild "traders" do not feel like an actual traders. More like sellers. You can only buy stuff from a guild trader. They can not buy stuff from you. And this got me thinking...
What if trading guilds could buy stuff from other players through a vendor NPC ?

This could be very simple to implement. It could work just like COD system. You post an offer with desired item, amount, price etc. Any player visiting trading vendor npc (no matter if in a guild or solo) will be able to see the offer and as long as they have required items in their inventory - they will be able to sell it.

Yeah, the way to win people over is to start/continue to spread conspiracy theories. I stopped at that comment, thought biased opinion is biased, and only barely skimmed the rest.

If there is a mafia-type thing going on with trading guilds, then it needs to be reported. How long would a mafia guild exist if players said "Nope" and left? If players are willing to put up with a bad situation, well, that's on them. Yes, Guild masters can blacklist players who object. They can't stop them from making their own trading guild. Mafia or not, winning bids on every single trader in all the zones on a constant, consistent basis to block the not-mafia guild from getting a trader would not be viable in the long-term.

Under the current system, in my no dues, no sales requirements guilds, I can sell what I want, when I want, at the prices I want to sell at. No one comes around to explain that I better fall into line and stop undercutting prices, or something awful will happen to the shop. No enforcer thugs show up and threaten to beat my character to death for not toeing the official line.

EDIT: autocowrecks on a tablet is a curse from the Divines.

No, it's not a compromise, amd it robs those of us who like checking guild traders of the option to do so, leave the current system alone.

My thoughts...let's assume for one moment that there really is a trading guild mafia on every server.

Who do you think is going to benefit from a centralized listing? "Mom-and-pop" out of the way traders? Or the "Trading Guild Mafia?"

    [snip]
How do we know? Well, players complain about resellers often enough just with Tamriel Trade Center on PC. The people who really benefit from TTC are active traders and resellers. The casual players who trade in out of the way shops see some benefit from sales, but arguably lose when they buy because of the ease with which resellers and active traders find the good deals and mark them up.

Do you really want to hand the "Trading Guild Mafia" and their resellers the absolute godsend that an in-game, central broker to view listings would be on Consoles?

    Just, ah, something to consider.

[snip]. They don't even prevent casual traders from finding Trading guilds that fit their needs. If you are on console thinking, "man, an in-game TTC sounds great," bear in mind that there are a lot of ripple effects in the economy and most of them benefit active traders and resellers. If you are posting a few items in your out-of-the-way trading guide, you'll probably end up selling cheap to attract resellers and buying higher to account for the resellers markup.)

I have discussed your suggestion at our biweekly ultra double secret global monopoly meeting and our group of big wig market exploiters came to the conclusion that we do not like this suggestion and would like to keep crushing all other players by exerting our indomitable grip on every tradable item in the game before all of us laughed maniacally for 20 minutes straight

ZOS has stated numerous times that they are not going to change the Trader system.

I wish ZOS would just close these threads.

Lol. I like how my reference to the trading mafias is a conspiracy "theory" lol. Not sure how it is on other platforms/servers - but it's far from being a "theory" on PS4 NA. I was a GM that was invited to it. I guess the word "mafia" is what got everyone - but then, they refer to themselves as "The Mournhold Mafia" - that's THEIR name for themselves, not mine. I just see them as a trading alliance whereby they communicate and control the city traders... like I say, on PS4 NA... that's the way, like it or not.

What's funny, is y'all have proved my point. I was just talking and offering a civil discussion on possible alternatives in a constructive manner and pretty much most responses are "close these threads", "beating the dead horse", "leave it alone" etc...

If you'd bothered to read, it would still enable the guild trader visits... you'd still have that immersion, but you'd also have something far more functional and something that would invoke even busier trade possibilties.

Anyways... @ZOS_BillE Go ahead close and delete this thread. Clearly no need to be constructive and chat anymore. :) I'm done.
