I've watched a video from Liko about a Khajiit magplar dual-wielding daggers. I confess I've got confused why Magicka would use daggers and by Khajiit's tooltip I didn't get its passive bonus being applied to (spell/magic) damage

I think a lot of the CP grinding for really high level CP characters was done back when every CP cost 400,000 XP. Didn't matter if it was your first or your 3600th. That is a lot for your first CP, but kind of a bargain for your later CP, compared to the dynamic system we have now where your first CP costs like 1 XP and CP 3600 costs like 10 trillion XP.

I seem to remember people grinding some cave full of goblins in Cyrodiil because if your faction was winning the campaign (and there were more campaigns back then, thus easier to find one where your faction always dominated), you got an XP buff. It was like Skyreach on steroids.

There's been a retrospective on this recently, actually. Basically each patch has been nerfing the Templars more and more, esp. after the One Tamriel update.
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/562687/since-i-joined-recently-can-you-explain-the-history-of-templar-nerfs/

All stuns got removed (Jabs, Spear), only Toppling Charge has it, Jesus Beam (Radiant Destro) was nerfed and then bugged for years - not properly scaling the damage in proportion to magicka, Sun Shield was so much nerfed it's the worst damage shield in the game and Harness Magicka is/was used by any build that needed a Shield instead, Major Mending was removed because it was "too strong" but then Wardens got it when the class launched while we still haven't receved ours back, Ritual of Retribution's heal was removed and the other morph no longer gets rid of all negative conditions but only 2 (RoR healed+damaged, the other one purged+healed). Breath of Life healed you+2 others in any range (eg. behiind you), it was nerfed so now it's a smaller heal and just for you+1 in front of you. Eclipse and its morphs were unusable for years, there was a period of time when they were good but then they were nerfed, one used to reflect damage+projectiles back at the enemy for several seconds so it was great in PVE and PVP, although at least the stun one morph currently seems usable (but grants CC immunity to the enemy after it ends for some time). Templars still don't have access to Major Sorcery as a skill class, which was compensated by having Major Mending, but that got removed so now we don't have either of the two, while other classes have them. Not to mention having the passive Wall bugged for yearss, it only got fixed now, or have some of the damage mitigation bonuses got removed from various skills. Ritual of Ret actually gave a bonus to healing, as did various other skills. Overall the Templar was just nerfed, one of the only boosts I remember they got was making the Major Resolve from Rune Focus not apply only when you stand in the tiny circle, but it's on you for the whole duration, making it it line with the other classes, and fixing bugs. ANd undoing the nerf to Burning Light in this patch, or at least making it not as bad. Otherwise, if you check the patches, it's nerf after nerf. They even got the Blinding Flashes skill removed way back before 2016 and replaced with Radiant Destro.

I didn't actually know that RoR doesn't heal anymore, as I'm playing on and off, I onl found out this week, so I was dropping it in random daily dungeons as a healer since November and didn't realize it doesn't heal anymore. . :D I hope I didn't come across as a fake healer, but I guess the other healing skills compensated for it (and the party's other healing skills). That nerf must've happened in one of those periods when I was taking a break from the game, since I keep it permanently on my bar, so I didn't have the need to re-check its descriptioin and it wasn't mentioned in any of the patch notes I read.

I have 1900 and most of them are useless. More points only unlock more slottables, but we’re all still restricted to 4. I have no edge over someone with 1000cp, and no less advantage over someone with 3000cp.

Having 4 from each tree keeps the system pretty flat. It’s not much difference from the previous cp cap and having to respec CP before each trial to get optimal CP allocation for those fights because you couldn’t just use them all. This is the same.

Not to mention we're mostly a melee...ish class that doesn't have the goodies we could have while having all (or more) of the losses.

And yet, lots of Templars remain as DPS, faithful that, one day, things will change this deplorable state we are that, IMHO, only remains because "famous" players give us false-positive notoriety with high-numbers parses on a silly stationary dummy.

Yeah, it's sad. Well, hopefully they might give at least Major Mending back? Or is it too hopeful? Maybe if they're bombarded wtih topics and questions in livestream why don't we get that back at least they might do it.

It would be more accurate to say 2000 CP is enough to fill out all the passives + 4 actives in all the categories so at that point you'll be as effective as possible whether your a tank, dd or healer.
I do get that from a crafting standpoint being able to have all the actives in the green tree open so you can quickly swap them depending on what you're doing would be advantageous. But that's more a matter of convenience rather than an issue of game balance.

The green tree sort of annoys me. The gathering and speed skills are locked behind either Inspiration/Disassembly 65 points or Wanderer/Steadfast/Treasure Hunter 75 points. Furthermore, if you have enough points to get them all you have to fool around with swapping in and out which is just an annoyance.
