So what weight does stamina wear this patch?

I've been running 5M 2H on my stamina casual pve char, but I don't like the penalties anymore. For this patch, I was thinking of 7 medium, which seems suitable for stamina DPS and even tanking easy dungeons. What do you guys think?

Probably. Heavy armor's penalties are pretty bad, I remember fatrolling in Dark Souls, this is basically that. On top of taking increased magic damage; I can't even remember the last game I played where equipping more armor increased the damage you took. Ugh. Let's not even talk about the reduced move speed and massive penalty to stealth radius.

The latter penalties are logical, the magic damage stuff not so much.

It just feels like heavy or light armor would hold back a medium armor build? If you understand what I mean?

I've always ran 7 medium on my pve characters. No changes for me.

I don't pretend to be an expert on a Meta that is 24 hours old, but max damage has been 7 medium for a long time. I dont see that changing with the new armor passives. I need a really good reason to not go Max Damage in PVE. The best Defense is a good Offense.

The only time I would ever intentionally run 1-2 pieces of heavy in PVE on stamina is in VMA when going for a flawless, or on a lower level character where I would go 5-1-1 to be sure I was leveling all 3 armor lines. My trial stamina toons have pretty much always been 7 medium.

Only seems like more upside now with 7 medium. If you need to you can always work blocking or a shield skill into rotation. Certainly taking more magic damage per piece of heavy negates the increased armor.

And how does 2% more magic damage (*) on a stamina DPS class affect your gameplay at all? Reduced sprint speed is nullified by medium armor bonusses and being worse at stealth wearing heavy armor actually makes sense.

(*) it's not even 2% because heavy armor gives more spell resistance. So heavy armor is still tankier than medium armor.

    OP try 5M 1H 1L.

People act blind. H give more armor and this higher armor nullify increased magic damage.

Heavy armor taking more damage from magical atacks and robes' extra protection againts magic attacks are classic fantasy logic. L used to be weaker to magic than H.

Current state makes more sense. L take less magic damage compared to H, H take nearly equal magic damage with M

The main reason for mixing armor weights was to get the undaunted mettle buff which is indirectly nerfed by 20%. Most players already had 7x medium for the MA passives. With the penalties for heavy and all passives being based on the amount of pieces its best for DDs to run 7x medium. For light armor the same thing applies, if you want more resistance you can wear 1x heavy but this will negatively impact your dps.
