Dumb Hypothetical: ESL in ESO?

I know, completely different developers and code that would make it impossible to implement without reworking ESL from the ground up, but what if Elder Scrolls: Legends, just the card game, was implemented into ESO in a similar way as Gwent was in the Witcher 3? I played the hell out of that game until it got canned a couple years back, and once the servers eventually get shut down, what if they just took the existing game and just made it a mini-game inside ESO? Challenging PC's and NPCs to games, there being new titles and achievements, new collectables, etc.

There would be 2 main downsides to this: first, development time would need to go to putting the card game in ESO, which unless they segmented it with an adjacent team or hired a new team to do it, this would take away from main game developments. The second downside is lore wise, since this card game isn't Lore-friendly, though the same could be said about Gwent in the Witcher 3.

Anyway... I know it's an impossibility, and this is just more of a dumb hypothetical, but as a what-if type scenario, do y'all think this would be a fun addition to ESO as a whole?

    Never even looked at it.

But from what you are saying its a card game? And you want to have the option to play a card game within the ESO game?

Might and Magic VII (the single player game) did that. Every tavern in every city you could go in and just play the game against the computer. And there was some achievement for winning at least one game at every tavern.

It was actually a lot of fun to take a break and just play cards for awhile.

Eh, I've never had any interest in the card game stuff. I don't care if it gets added, but I won't bother with it.

ESL was a good card game (it still exists, but who knows for how much longer). It was a Hearthstone-like game, but with a system to it that made it different and unique.

I think it would be a great addition for that exact reason you mention: A fun way to take a break from the main game while still playing the game. But it's probably not possible honestly. But then again, it is an IP and game that is owned by the main publishing company, so though the chances of it being put in ESO are low, the aren't 0%. It could be a good way for them to keep the stuff that was made without letting all the hard work get tossed into a dumpster once it's shut down.

Back to the topic at hand, I would be all for it as long as it does not follow the P2W aspect of every Card Game in the world.

I can imagine it now... Players gathered around a table in a tavern playing cards while a tavern wench makes the rounds. Suddenly someone slams a card down and the whole table erupts in swears because most of them just lost. Meanwhile the rest of Tameriel wonders when someone is going to show up to save their butts from Deadra.

Agreed. Possibly tying the game into ESO similarly to how Gwent was in the Witcher 3 would be cool. A la packs and cards being dropped by world bosses or dungeon bosses, gotten through questing, etc. We know they'd sell packs in the crown store though, but I'd hope for them to only be selling the "foil" card upgrades in the cash shop (in ESL, every card has a foil version, which is basically just a shiny animated version of the base card). At least make it so you can get everything outside the cash shop with enough time and effort. Hypothetically

I am all for minigames in ESO. I loved the frog race you can play in Auridon.
TES:Legends probably is a bad fit though because most cards aren't really possible in the 2nd Era. But a different card game could take its place, perhaps even one unique to the Elder Scrolls universe or a lesser known card game from the real world that could be transformed to fit into this world.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

This would be a great idea imo. I've been hoping they add a minizone with casino, minigames, etc just to have something fun and different to do occasionally, similar to FFXIV. Maybe a pocket realm ore resort island could work with the lore.

I mean suspension of disbelief dictates that it could work. In-universe, it's a card game similar to the card game, but the one we're playing has the famous cards from throughout the ES timeline. That's basically how the Witcher 3 got around the same dilemma. Plus all the assets for the game, as well as mechanics and how the game works, already exist so they don't need to build a new thing from the ground up. Once the servers for that game go down, they just have an IP that they're no longer cashing, which is the main reason I think it would be a decent addition to the game that wouldn't take up too much development time, only the time to get the system in place in ESO. Which, to be fair, is some of the hardest work to be done.

My brother enjoys both games, and he would probably love this suggestion. I'd give it a try, but not sure since I usually don't like card games.

I really don’t like the idea of somehow shoehorning ESL into ESO. Now appropriate in-game minigame like punctilious conflict could be a fun diversion!
