Microsoft has bought out Bethesda and Zenimax for quite a sum, yes. Don't worry, they aren't going to let this franchise go anywhere anytime soon, and to be entirely honest I have slightly more faith in Microsoft as a parent company than some of these other game publishers (looking at you, EA and Activision). Hopefully, they'll be able to port the game over to their Azure servers; from what I understand, Azure would be more than capable of handling the demand imposed on the game's servers by Cyrodiil, and then some.
Linux based
Yeah, which now has me wondering (not for the first time) whether they use any container technologies (ala Docker, Kubernetes, etc) to deploy pre-built images to all the systems that have there in the data center. I guess I could answer that by checking out their job postings. (Edit: Yup, looks like they are building staff in that direction)
Oh boy! perhaps with extra funding they may have from this deal and Microsoft backing them, they'll make this year's expansion have some truly groundbreaking new mechanics and perhaps a new fun class and new weapon types and not something that may barely work, not function for a large majority of content, yet be easily monetizable in the long run and-
The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood
Destruction comes to Tamriel with the new Gates of Oblivion year-long adventure and Blackwood Chapter, arriving on PC/Mac and Stadia on June 1, and on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 consoles June 8.
The deal wasn't finalized until this year so no meddling of any kind yet. Now its done here we go, but on top of that ESO has had a good performance increase in PVE areas for many people. Zenimax is also getting new servers, but said it might not help performance as much as we think. So tomorrow next year we will see if anything major happens with this game. I want a new weapon or class something major as an RP person. If we have two years with no major content and increased jacked up prices with M$ meddling hoooo boooooy we got a dying MMO. Right now the casuals are mostly content, but too many bad years and lack of new weapons/systems/something could see ESO start to dip and die. I'm giving blackwood a chance I know Rona hit them hard but if next year doesn't see something big and cool for all the patience I might quit.
Microsoft has been doing good in recent years all around. Honestly this in my books is good news. I highly doubt they will kill or prune ESO at all as it's a Money Maker. I just hope instead they use it to enhance the game more in fact. Microsoft being doing a lot to not make money off a game itself but rather use their OS / Console, etc these days. So I would not be surprised they just try to find more ways to make the game accessible.

I have a super bad feeling about all this. M$ is known as the great canceller and meddler of games. Ea is the gaming horseman of death killing of studio after studio. M$ is the gaming horseman of famine making new games and cancelling them all the time. Starving and meddling with their studios and keeping them in limbo. They are possibly still one of the worst game publishers and developers of all time and only had brief success with the 360. I really wouldn't be surprised if ESO was gone in a decade.

Yeah I guarantee whatever that lawsuit ends up costing the company it would be a drop in the bucket next to the 7 billion Big M dropped on the acquisition. Not the sort of thing that would stop, or likely even slow a deal of this size.

"Good" lol. Their game output has been less than lack luster and every time they come out with some new announcement it gets cancelled behind the scenes. Halo run into the ground, minecraft run into the ground, rare run into the ground, and state of decay not very good.
Am I crazy and or old? But all those game studios and games are complete crap compared to xbox at its height. They haven't managed to do a single thing right since the xbox 360 era except cancel loot boxes oh wow man so great and sort of gamepass but I'll never let a company as inept as M$ note let me download my games if the servers go out or their service is cancelled its GG no more games for you. I'm shocked microsoft has a good reputation these days as they've done nothing to earn it compared to what they used to be like. They do seem to be quite adept at duping people though like EA and all the big AAA publishers/devs. You'll forgive me if I don't trust your uh expert opinion.

does this mean eso's taking a back seat?
