I've got 930CP something and i'm feeling like the ground will be the real MVP.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

    A'marta - AD Sorc Tank
    Kijima - AD DK Derps
    Annure - AD NB Derps
Boom Crash Opera - AD Sorc DPS

ZOS have stated that they have made sure that you can still do vet DLC Dungeons with 300cp, so anything above that should still be enough for endgame content.

Looking at the suggested stars to put points in on AlcastHQ, I'd say that the minimum you want to be is whatever it takes to get all the BiS slottable passives (which is 840).

That being said, 2200 will be the new 810. Potentially higher as there are some other good situational slottables.

I think someone made the math that you need at least 1600 CP to have a solid base for all the CP you need. Everything beyond is bonus.

Think of it like skill points. If all you want to do is put together a character that is excellent for one specific task (tank, heal, or DD), then it honestly doesn’t take that many skill points compared to the vast number available.

But if I want my tank to master all crafting and to swap out skills for various rare situayand also moon light as a budget DD, then now I need TONS of skill points.

Champion system will be the same. It won’t be hard to put together a character great at one task, it will take a long time for one character to be so flexible that he can do it all.

For those who don’t know, this is what “horizontal progression” means.

From the looks of things, you'll need a few hundred to complete content, 1500ish to please elitist PvE guilds, and 1800+ to be fully competitive in CP PvP.

In PvP I found 1200 is viable as in you can get all the passives and slottables you need, but need about 1650 to get all the stuff you'd like. Such as the full 8% extra healing and 4% extra mitigation. Even more if you want all block reduction and roll dodge reduction. Builds tend to lean on one more than the other so I didn't really consider this as that important...

Edit: even more if you want more stam as a mag build or vice versa as stam build.

ideally 2100-2200 is what you're looking at.

I love how people completely exaggerate how much CP you need to be able to kill stuff.

Stuff dies if you slap it with a wet noodle. I'm more worried about the craft tree/constellation/pile.

You will be fine as a PVE DPS purely from damage, but you will continue to gain mitigation and flexibility (more slottable options for specific encounters) until north of 2k. North of about 1800 and you are really talking about maximizing your secondary resource (stamina +weapon damage on a magic toon). Probably not terribly important.

In PVP, again, you will be fine, but again, a little north of 2k will give you everything that "might" be helpful.

I wouldnt worry too much at your level. The incremental gains are not all that great. That said, if you really want to be min/maxed, you do have a ways to go (as do most of us).

If you know what you do, even 500 would be enough. Not optimal, sure. But enough.
