You may know me from my other
Housing Thread, where I highlighted several areas of underutilized potential. That thread takes a larger, more broader approach. This thread I aimed to be geared as a more focused, straightforward and specific suggestion.
As someone who always fantasized about living in Vivec City growing up playing TES3, and then fell in love all over again when ESO's interpretation of the Holy city was released in 2017, Vivec has LONG been on my radar. The striking tile work, the sculpted artwork adorning the walls and the unique designs seen Vivec shown off in a whole new, modernized light. Outside of the aesthetics, Vivec City also remains one of the most popular player hubs in the entire game with it's Crafting & Guild Trader setups, making it a highly desirable locale for practicality's sake as well.
Unfortunately however, anyone wishing to live here is limited to the extremely restrictive "St Delyn Penthouse". Not only just being a small room, it is burdened by being an "Inn" type home, restricting the location to only 30 furnishings.
The concept behind "Inn" room homes is that they are Starter homes. Meant & designed to be small to allow players a place to grow and eventually move on into bigger homes. Something that is displayed in Alinor's "Golden Gryphon Garret" and then the following Alinor's "Alinor Crest Townhouse. Also displayed in Solitude's "Snowmelt Suite" & then advancing to Solitude's "Proudspire Manor". And once more with Rimmen's "Sugar Bowl Suite" & then Rimmen's "Hall of the Lunar Champion".
However the flaw with this concept & "St Delyn Penthouse" is that there is currently ZERO alternatives in the Vivec City style to ascend into. If you love the unique style not seen anywhere else in Tamriel, you are currently forced to remain in these very limited "Inn" type homes or just give up on the style altogether.
This is one of the main goals of the home. Providing a bigger, but not exceedingly large, alternative for Vivec and it's incredibly unique style of architecture. One that fits well with the established lore of the location & also continues the pattern held consistently with the rest of the Chapters.
Summary & Floorplan of Saint Olms Canal House
It's a Small-Medium sized home (something that is heavily requested more & more in the Housing Community) located in the St. Olms Canton, Canalworks Level on the Southern Outdoor terrace.
HERE is my proposed Entrance to the home. Consistent with lore of the city as these exact doors do lead to homes in Canalworks level of St. Olms Canton as displayed in TES 3. I chose this one in particular due to it's ease of access for players not needing to navigate the inner hallways of Vivec's cantons and it's direct proximity to the Temple District, it's Wayshrine and the Zone Daily Quester Givers it houses.
Like my other thread this suggestions utilizes an already existing, but currently not functional locked door that is currently in the game & serves zero purpose. However the good thing about Vivec City is that it doesn't have to be THIS particular door. There are currently 20+ similarly unused doors in the city, with by my count 4 just like this on the same outdoor terraces in the St Olms Canton alone. So there is plenty of options. The Waistworks of St Olms one level up also could work as in lore those doors also contained a plethora of small homes which extends the available unused doors to 8.
The interior also utilizes assets and room layouts that are currently in the game and taken from the In-Game map, and pieced together.
The idea for the interior was to provide a simple layout that has defined, separated rooms of versatile shape and size. So that players can have defined purpose for each room, but also so that players can block off a room easily if they wish too. It's a small 3 room design so it's not massive or complex by any means but just enough to execute a decent variety of ideas.
Obviously I wouldn't care at all if the layout/entrances differs massively or uses totally different rooms & pieces this is just the type of layout I felt 1) Fits well for the type of Small home that could be found here 2) Makes good usage of small space still allowing for defined purposes to each room. But ultimately if ANY larger house were added to Vivec City I'd be beyond ecstatic!
I hope you guys enjoyed this suggestion and would love to hear any feedback, questions, concerns or any ideas you have to expand or improve the idea! Hopefully if there is enough interest something like this can find it's way into the game eventually!
