How does Mantle of Siroria actually work?

I've read posts...looked at vids...I just don't get it. From the description:

Dealing direct damage with a single target attack creates a ring of fire beneath you for 10 seconds. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds. Standing in the ring grants you a stack of Siroria's Boon for 5 seconds. Each stack increases your Spell Damage by 52. 10 stacks max.

So this tells me it procs when I...say light attack with an inferno staff. Ok..I get that. This attack will create a ring of fire under me that lasts for 10 seconds, and can occur every 10 seconds. So far so good. Standing in the ring grants you a stack of Siroria's boon for 5 seconds. Here's where it gets fuzzy.....I stand in the ring, I get ONE STACK for 5 seconds. So if I stand in the ring for the full 10 seconds without moving, I'd get....2 stacks? one for the first 5 seconds and one for the second 5 seconds? So how do you get to 10 stacks? Stand there? Do single target attacks WHILE standing in the ring? I'm ASSUMING I continue to fire at a single target while in the ring to build up stacks up to 10, but that's not what the description actually says. Confused...thank you.

You get 1 stack for every second of standing in the ring up to 10 stacks if You've spend 10 seconds there. Every time You get new stack 5 seconds timer is being refreshed.

Ah....thank you that's REALLY helpful...so really...as a test...I could literally just stand there like a lump and the ring would never go away after it's proced?? I did notice when I ran it that it stuck around longer some times then others...thanks!

Ring lasts 10 seconds. After that You need to create new ring but if You'll do it within 5 seconds time period You won't loose stacks from previous ring.

Nevermind, the description is a bit confusing. I understood "1 stack for 5 seconds" = 1 stack per 5 seconds too.

Let's be extremely precise in our use of terms.

If you dont move, you will quickly build to max stacks and keep them up for the duration of the fight. Also know that if the set is just on one bar, you dont lose the stacks you have built when on the off bar, so it is best run with a front bar weapon (the farm is certainly a pain).

Even in highly mobile fights, the reality is that it just doesnt take that many stacks for it to still be better (from a pure damage perspective) than other options.

I think a lot of people over think this set and worry too much about the stacks. Dancing while DPSing is a bad idea for a lot of reasons, but I don't really play any differently whether or not I am wearing Siroria. Move when you have to, stand still when you can, and this set will shine.

Thanks...I only have the 5 piece set of armor right now....doubt I'll ever see the jewelry or staffs and that's fine. I've been messing around with coupling the set with Molag Kena at it seems to work well enough since my direct damage is usually an inferno staff light attack.

I wonder if Jorvuld’s guidance makes it longer

@Bobby_V_Rockit Jorvuld’s has no affect on it. it's not a major / minor buff.

@Oreyn_Bearclaw is on point. i've seen way too many people die trying to keep their stacks up. when they changed it to max stacks 10 it became a significantly better set.
