Mazes of Instancing

Help me navigate the mazes of how the instancing works for groups both in open space and in semi-open instances such as delves and public dungeons, and please share some tips for combating random splitting of groups in different instances.

Is closed quarters instance limited to 12 people? If so, what happens if a group of 14 people enters a delve? Do they get split 12/2 or can be something like 8/6? Is the instance shared with random people inside the delve? What happens if a group of 12 or less people enters a delve with, say 5 people already in it? Is there a way to control instancing within a group and stay in one instance as a group at all times? Is the group member limit 12 people, and does sticking to that limit guarantee any safety against being split upon entering a delve or public dungeon? If the group gets split, can it somehow be fixed by re-teleporting to a group member in the desired instance?

It all probably looks like madman's ramblings, but instancing surely must have been invented by Sheogorath.

Can only say I ran into this doing Bolgrul daily farming on an large group as in around 12 and probably more during last anniversary event, some got into other instances, also run into this in public dungeons.
It depend more on the number of players inside than the group size i think
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
