Hello,

I will be building my new pc this weekend and I haven’t played ESO for around 2 years now. Has the game improved since then in regards to performance and the devs favouring the crown store over in game performance issues, etc? Or should I just avoid and go with FFXIV or another game? :)

Depends on what content you play.

If you like questing, dungeons, arenas, and events, ESO has added a lot of great new content!

If you like trials, there's some fun new ones, but performance can be hit or miss.

If you like PVP, well, it's very likely that your performance in Cyrodiil will not have improved very much. ZOS has been running tests on the Live servers to pinpoint areas where they might improve, but nothing they tested has resulted in appreciable improvements. However. The current test disables proc sets, so if you want to give that gameplay change a try, hop on in!

As for the Crown Store, monetization is pretty much a fact of life at this point. If you didn't care for the Crown Store two years ago, not much has changed.

Just buy a warden, a necro or a werewolf for your character and youll be great.
Stay away from nightblade class is next to useless both pve and pvp.
I use nightblade its my favorite.

I used to play Nightblade. I was never thrilled by the class.

Read up on the Changes that have happened since you stopped playing. Also those changes that are about to happen in the next couple of weeks

Nightblade is fun for me. I just like being able to turn invisible and walk past enemies I don't feel like fighting (meanwhile everyone else has to fight them off). The other shadow abilities are fun too. Stealing is also kinda fun as well when I'm trying not to get caught (though the omniscient npcs are a pain). I recommend becoming a werewolf, though. It's really fun in PvE because of how much more powerful and threatening my lil bosmer becomes. It feels good when you're able to stay a werewolf for 30 minutes because you can just keep increasing the duration as you kill things.

The game has improved a lot in the PVE experience.
The Set Collection, for e.g., enables you to craft gear with any trait you've learned once you collect the gear by any means(dungeons/overland/etc.), thus ameliorating those grinding procedures you would have had.
And for an explorer, you may get interested in the Antiquity system where you can be an archeologist digging here and there for various collectibles.
As for the crown store, well, it hasn't changed much since there'll be no meta items to be sold there, but if you like those fancy decorative stuff, it's going to cost you a Daggerfall.

For me, honestly, the game hasn't kept it's luster as it did years ago. If you're coming back for 'super great content', don't buy anything and just play the game to see if you like the changes first before considering it. Good luck, though.

Played FFXIV two or three years ago, I don't rate it at all. I hope they've improved it as I loved the franchise.. until I tried the mmo.
