With the introduction of the new ancestral motifs dropping from treasure map chests only would you like a way to farm specific zones treasure maps? Like turning your crafting writs in in a specific zone? Or fishing in a specific zone?

I don't think they will change that, they have the treasure maps drop randomly for the same reason they have the surveys drop randomly, so that you could end up with treasure maps/surveys for DLC zones you don't own, as one of the ways they hope it will tempt you to get ESO+ or buy the Chapter/DLC.

Other than that you can find the specific maps on guild traders.

I would like to to actually be possible to do ancestral reach motif. As system is now, it is basically impossible. If the stupid thing actually dropped like game says from digging antiquities in Reach, that would be one thing. But it doesn't. Instead it is RNG on top of RNG, and treasure map RNG is horrible. Even worse is prices in guild trader. Most of us are not made of that kind of gold, so we just don't ever get this motif even though we paid for it with the DLC. Have the same problem with scarab pet - will never get it because of how drop works. Annoyed.

The ancestral motifs are a horrible grind. Ancestral reach is by FAR the worst of them. I wasn’t crazy about the dwarven scarab system either but at least those leads don’t drop duplicates unlike the motifs. I really hope they revisit that idea

It wouldn't be so bad if Ancestral Reach worked.

I know people have said that it's a 10% lead drop rate from the maps, but I've done so many and only gotten one lead out of them. They really need to see if that's working as intended, but right now it's obscenely frustrating to get them.

And the tooltip still suggests that they should be available in other ways. I know they said it was supposed to be available from bonus loot, but that doesn't seem to work.

It's such low RNG to get a one of the 6 maps it could drop from instead of the other 160, then you have to hope it drops a lead, which is a less than 10% chance, and then on top of that you need to get one of the ones you don't have. It seems impossible to get that codex filled unless you farmed the maps cheap from the guild stores before Markarth released.

I'm stockpiling my Cyrodiil maps because I can totally see them doing this with the ancestral Imperial motif that's been datamined...

I still adhere to the belief that DLC Zones should ONLY drop Treasure Maps and Furnishing Plans from that DLC.

Nothing drives me crazy like looting a Deshaan Treasure Map or Breton Desk Plan in Western Skyrim...
