Hello,

When will ESO's graphics be overhauled?

Why not incorporate Reshade into the game?
https://www.nexusmods.com/elderscrollsonline/mods/91

Best regards,
Rontabs

I sure hope not.. I mean, the mod already exists, so why not just acquire and incorporate it, right?

People have vastly different tastes on reshade, judging by what I read in the other thread about it.

I'm here and waiting for the XSX version of the game. I really hope it'll will give us max PC settings, 4k and HDR. Maybe more if possible. This game in parts looks beautiful and in other parts it looks jokingly bad.

Just compare Fire Staff light attack when the bolt explodes vs. Fire Wall of Elements etc.

It seems to be a statement from the devs that once assets are live, they don't do anything else with them (this is due to major outcry over changes in the past).

Personally, I have no interest in reshade or ENB - and there are a lot more things they could do with their time that would make people who have a lot of bugs happier than messing with the game's look.

Well, you can view it that way I guess. I remember what happened when Blizzard "redid" the races in WoW - every character I had no longer looked like herself, and there was no way to "put them back to normal". Combined with the direction of the game after MoP, that was my EOL with that game....

Or if you look most recently with Diablo 2 Resurrected the new characters (if you've seen them yet) look older and a lot less attractive. Sometimes things are best just left alone, lol.

I don't think those who like the game as it is and want it left that way can be called crybabies. For every player who thinks something improves a game, there's another player who thinks it ruins it. That was the experience with previous changes that taught ZOS not to make such changes again. Personally I have no problem with something like Reshade being available in a mod, but I see absolutely no benefit in it based on screenshots and wouldn't want it forced on the base game.

This game needs a performance overhaul before anything else. Plus, I can use the Nvidia game filter to tweak the graphics if I wanted.

ESO has been getting some graphics improvements but it's like a slow trickle instead of a raging river. Like in recent memory they added the options to really crank up the grass render distance, add different kinds of depth of field, and introduced Temporal Antialiasing.

^- this... Eso is in the fill the map and milk the player base with gambling.

I think we would see more pixels when they run out of content to add and make it whole expanstion and call it Eso reloaded or some silly name.

I've been enjoying the apperance of the game a lot more with the gamma turned all the way down lately. TES games were never these super bright colorful games like WoW or ESO. It does feel a little more immersive when majority of the lighting comes from the actual light sources in game.

I am currently enjoying the game on max settings with a Intel i7 and Nvidia RTX3070. The graphics look astounding.

What is everyone else using to view the game?
(Math before coffee, except after 3, is not for me)

They've already said no to changing assets, the reason most DLC/chapters look way better texture-wise than older zones. Probably won't be an overhaul until ESO 2.
  • Skykaiser_Ọlọrun
The game needs an animation overhaul more than anything else. They just really aren't up to the visual standard the rest of the game (which actually can look quite nice) sets.

This. "Add Reshade" isn't an improvement to everyone. And just which preset would you use?

ESO is already 4K HDR on Xbox One X, and the Xbox Series X runs that version in backward compatibility. With the promised Xbox Series X optimization, we can hope for some graphical improvements, but what I'm mostly looking forward to is the game getting bumped up to 60fps from 30fps.

Having reshade present on your machine is enough to get your account banned on dozens of competitive games including some esport games. It's one of the top libraries used for cheats, easy to inject code and graphics into.

Pretty sure AMD and NVidia can do the same thing these days, i.e. geforce experience?

Don't think I have ever seen a decent Reshade mod. Colour imbalance by overusing the blue filter is pretty common. Or many seem to go for more of a personal preference like colour saturation, or colour bleeding

No one sees the same image the same anyway. Monitors make the biggest difference in colour reproduction and viewing angles.

NVIDIA Freestyle is what it is called. And it's a fork of Reshade. ESO is on the "officially supported" list from NVIDIA. You can even drag and drop Reshade profiles into Freestyle.

Thanks for your input people, and thank you for not getting me wrong.

ESO graphics is nice as it is, it's just that, as someone who has been a 3D artist in the past, my opinion is that I think no assets are needed to be changed except for the shaders. No need to tweak vertices on any model or redo texture maps, just enhance the shaders.

no, because that would change minimum reqs again, and they'd be cutting off a lot of their customers. and no, games shouldn't be, for the most part locked behind what kind of rig you have.

They have done it before, like when they dropped DX9, versions of Windows prior to 7, and 32 bit MacOS. Over time, they have notched up the CPU and GPU requirements, as well.

Ultimately, what holds them back, to a degree, is old console hardware. It is probably harder for them to turn off PS4 and XBox One, which they will probably have to support until the last of them finally stop working. Or, until XBox and Playstation decide that they want those old console users to stop dragging their feet and upgrade.

Its been 8 years. Who still uses pc that old for gaming? Its like 150 years converted into human years.

Uh.... my PC is that old, and still I manage to run 2 4k monitors on that old GPU.... I put off getting a new machine this year in favor of paying off my mortgage.

My antique PC runs everything I need to run just fine, including ESO on max level.

There will never be an ESO 2, but it would be cool if they did something like that.
