Why is it that pretty every time I log out of the game in the past few months I get stuck in an infinite load screen?
Forcing me to hard exit the game and restart it to use another character. Grrr!

As mentioned in the post above, deleting your local save data can help with getting your character to load in. Here are the troubleshooting steps on how to do so.

To delete save data on the Xbox One

1. From the Xbox Home Menu, navigate to My games & apps.
2. Go to Games.
3. Highlight The Elder Scrolls Online tile and press the [Menu] button of the controller.
4. Select Manage Game. Highlight and select Save Data for the desired user.
5. Select Delete.

No, that's all saved server side. What it will do is return some settings to default. Should be quick and painless to re-figure those.

Yes, after this "delete" you will lost all character customization ingame menu option.
