Economy in ESO - how does it work ?

I am a long time player since Beta.
As I am a diehard collector of anything purchasable I am in constant need of money.
Therefore I am doing writs constantly and sell the mats.
This way I am making about half a million gold each week.
by spending some but really not that much time (thx to Dolgubon) in doing writs.

What I fail to understand is:

Who is buying all these many mats ?
and
Where do they get all their money from ?

Or are there simply that few players doing the writs
regularly, because they are not really interested in money.

On the other hand I understand that there are players who
are really rich
looking at the prices of the Khajiit Brazier which is selling regularly for 20 Million.

Maybe some of them are leaders of good trading guilds but I guess
there can be onlky a handful of them getting really rich that way.

So there I am really baffled about the question:

Who in hell is regularly buying all my tempers ?

People who get their gold through other means -- usually combat-related.

A fair amount of players despise writs, so they make most of their coin by selling motifs, PvP items (converted AP), and whatnot that they earned through doing the things they enjoy more. But since they're more combat-oriented, and don't earn much upgrade mats of their own, they need to buy a lot to keep up with their ever-changing builds. Or to outfit their alts. Et cetera, et cetera.

I think the economy works because there is a good balance of players across all the content. For example there are players that like running dungeons and other content that drops motifs. Complimenting those players is the ones that like to do writs (including master writs) but don't necessarily like running the dungeons for motifs. The crafters buy the motifs. New players or those just beginning crafting buy the materials.
I've been playing since early access and my first million was long in coming. Back then a tomato would bring a good amount of gold. I looked in a hell of a lot of crates. Later I started doing master writs and was selling furniture recipes I bought with the vouchers for a real good profit. The market is fluid and will remain strong so long as we have plenty of players participating in all the different activities.

and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

At some point, it's also a trade-off between time and convenience.

I regularly do writs, but only on 3 characters. After that, it simply becomes tedious, even with Dolgubon, and surveys pile up fast enough that it's okay to do them once in a while but more would be a nuisance. And I have enough money in the bank that I don't need to endure the boredom of more writs.

Recently, someone asked me to craft essentially three full characters worth of light armour stuff, so they had to go and buy the mats because I didn't want to bankroll that. :D Or for outfitting two of my characters in quick succession, I temporarily ran out of Rosins and had to buy a few.

And most importantly: Now scale that up to tens of thousands of players, as a conservative estimate. The economy works because a lot of players do different stuff, and it adds up in the end.

    Oh a lot of people

    They just like golding out

I personally never buy gold mats, because I craft myself so I wait them to stack from daily writs, if I wanna gold out something

Better to sell them in this economy anyway ;)

It's crack down on bots that means less supply in market.
