The lag, bugs, trying to balance pvp and pve together......nothing seems to improve this to much.

I would prefer a discussion on changes the devs have made that have made game play less fluid, fun or engaging that potentially could be reversed.

For me as a tank main in pve from Oceania, ping has always been 300+. I play pvp such as I can with this latency.

Two of the biggest changes that affected gameplay for me were:
  • The changes to aoe avoidance (can not dodgeroll aoe)
  • The changes to block animations/cast time

Both were implemented ostensibly for pvp reasons. Both havent made pvp more engaging nor improved performance.

(PVE) The aoe dodge on high ping is incredibly frustrating. When you die in a position that is nowhere near the aoe because your animation had not completed, or there is a desync makes some content a lottery. (for example Scalecaller peak HM when it first dropped)

(PVE and PVP) The block changes have been even more frustrating for me on my latency. Block has become unreliable. Block casting, block cancelling could all be used fluidly. Now it is very common to be holding the block key and block not work. Bar swapping while holding block very often seems to coincide with a block not registering even though visually an attack does not coincide with the timing of the bar swap.

If I could have either of these changes reversed it would be the changes to block.


Anyone else agree/disagree or have other changes they would like to see?

    For the clunkiness of the combat system to go away! I absolutely hate it when I spam the same spell, and my character does nothing and just stands there for over a second. Doing nothing, even when you press the skill button.

    This feels absolutely off, like how is this still in-game?!? This started when ZOS made animation cancelling a thing, it bugged the regular use of skills.

    This is actually a good change, and helps those new to the game to get back to the main inventory screen. So they can't get lost. The only time I've had an issue with this, is when I tried to learn multiple motifs at once. Which made me go back and forth. Otherwise, this works great!

    Animation canceling has been in the game since release and has absolutely nothing to do with skills not working, but I do agree it would be nice if skills worked.

    Create a better system to join Trials. Something like having trials start every 30 minutes or an hour on each server (multiples). Can have signups for roles 30 minutes prior to Trial. When all 12 slots are filled, Trial starts.

    Put the calculations and what not back to client side and get an anti cheat software like some other games have, basically reverse the changes made for stadia

    i would remove classes and make it so have to pick from a list of choices of minor and major skills and 1 healing and one damage pre-balanced lists, Exactly like they did in morrowind.

    I would change how Riding Lessons work. Instead of being able to do only one per day (20 hours) let me do as many as I can afford at a time. Very annoying spending over 6 months, as I occasionally miss a day, just to get a new character on par with everyone else. I know it wont happen because of Crown Store Riding Lessons.

    Yup, VASTLY improve performance by moving more to the client side (IDGAF about PVP).

    Also convert from TCP to UDP

    let's talk about this seriously...

    I don't think just adding a single non-class skill mimicking an existing class skill is the right solution. I actually have no issues with other classes wanting to dip into say the NB cloak skill, in the same way that my NB might want a clanfear sorc pet.

    My proposal: Basically, in the interest of making gameplay more interesting, and expanded on the much touted "horizontal" progression, allow us to use CP like an expendable currency to "purchase" a skill from another class. There would have to be serious limits on this with regard to balance. Perhaps passives would like the new CP system become slotted traits, and we'd have to pick and choose which of the greater pool of passives to slot. Also allowing for more passive slots via a CP as a currency system, to keep from tacking passives too far.

    In that way, ESO would introduce a concept of "multiclassing", create far greater build diversity, and generally make play more interesting.

    coming *soon* to the WARDEN class with the new "prestige" skill lines added ;)

    bout time we had an expansion to the existing classes. Also ZOS needs to consider bypassing the current bar limits by adding configurable skill behaviours (ie. heal skill can be configured to auto fire when player is below "x"%). Other MMOs on console have done this reasonably well (STO, etc.). Maybe have the same "active" skill bar, and custom bar where certain skills can be slotted to auto trigger under conditions selected by the player.

    I'd change the trading system, not to an auction house as such but tweaked in various ways to make it more uniform across the platforms and accessible to new/casual traders.

    Globally? Nothing. The game gets better and better each year. But it still needs polishing some spears minor things, such as crime system and partly guild's skill lines. Nonetheless there are a few ways game could progress to: deep lore; sea content; politics and governance; and multilevel location (ZOS already started with Elsweyr and continued with Greymoor. The next stage could be the flying zones with mounts or magic.)

    Revamp the monetization model of this game to one that isn't such a blatant rip-off for everything other than the content DLCs.
    • End single-use infinitely repeatable transactions that have no upper spending limit and either convert them all into mini-DLC expansion packs that add optional functionality to the game or... uhm... add them to the game for everyone (radical concept these days, I know)?
    • Bundle together cash shop exclusive items to create better customer value and/or substantially slash the costs of everything in the cash shop (content DLCs like dungeon and story expansions are already priced appropriately).
    • Discontinue gambling and offer all content previously sold through gambling as direct transactions only, perhaps in bundles as mentioned above. Strongly consider paying restitution to customers with professionally diagnosed gambling addiction.
    • Demonetize events to be more in line with the previous model of seasonal, limited time offerings exclusive to the cash shop. All event rewards will be exclusively earned by actually playing the game and trading with players.
    • Permit the subscription to provide access to all non-cosmetic enhancing content for the duration of a subscription. Guess what this means? Infinite name, race, appearance, alliance changes while subbed. Infinite New Game Plus mode (aka, character who has max skill line and skyshards) while subbed. Actual value for the money in general.
    • Provide a proper in-game exchange to support crown-to-gold transactions between players. Strongly consider discontinuing sales of crowns in the future, both because of this mechanism and because prices in the cash shop will now be reasonable, one-time transactions with a firm upper spending limit for customers each month.
    • Continue to add new, neat, fun things to the cash shop at reasonable prices with an upper spending limit for customers. Create a more reasonable, consistent rotation of cash shop content offerings. For players that which to support the game beyond the spending limit, create a donation system instead of relying on ethnically questionable monetization.

    Creating a fair and respectful model for GaaS is very possible. It will never happen at this point for this game, but hopefully other GaaS will learn from the mistakes of ESO and provide fairer customer value.

    I'd revert whatever they did several patches ago that totally buggered targeting. LOS is a joke. And often I can't fire spells at a target that has gotten too close to my toon. Great, in a game where enemies always run directly at you.

    If i remember correctly we could see everyone's skill animations and we still had a relatively lag free game. It's no wonder that most cryodiil tests have not shown any favorable results to reduce lag because it's in the code, code that's been bandaided upon bandaids upon bandaids.

    While i understand it's not practical and probably not possible, it's one of the only ways that i can think of to fix this mess that zos got themselves into. Another option is to rewrite the game. Other games have done it <cough> final fantasy <cough> to quite success. If something isn't done soon, it will continue its death spiral toward oblivion. Let's hope something happens so we can continue playing the game that we all love so much.
