A mini map please

Can we please have a mini map in the bottom left of the screen for console users, much like the ones you see in GTA, Red Dead ,etc. I don't know how many times I've run off in the wrong direction. The map bar at the top of the screen is ineffective. Of course one would be able to turn it off if they don't
like it. While we are on the subject of the map can you allow us to zoom in more on the map.

As far as I recall, they actually used to have one, but apparently it caused issues..Maybe I'm mis-remembering? This is why you just get a PC.

I've tried the mini map addon, and the only times when I actually looked at it, were at the IC base, because for some reason I cannot remember the layout.

If zos adds minimap at any point it should be adjustable in size and zoom lvls just like AUI one, best map addon imho

NO NO A THOUSAND TIMES NO!.. i hate minimap add on and def do not want it on the base game. i hate minimap hate hate hate hate minimap. no thank you please it only make me sneeze and then it makes it hard to find the door..

Should be implemented . This map doesn't cause any issues .

Votan is one of the best addon authors.

I hope ZOS will implement this QOL feature who is present in all MMOS on the market.

Mini maps could be added via companions, Like having a companion/cartographer to point you in the right direction if your too lazy to do it yourself.

Got no problem with them adding it to the base game, just include an option in settings to turn it off for those that don't want it.

I agree, this would be great QOL improvement for consoles.

One of the mini map addons for PC literally just enables a mini map which is already built into the game. So it's there, and presumably in the console version too, ZOS just choose not to have it available for some reason.

I don't understand why, they could have it off by default and make it something you have to enable if you want it (like practically every other part of the UI in this game) but it would be really useful for players like me who have no sense of direction. (Apparently it's part of being dyslexic.)

Fortunately I'm on PC so I can use a mini map, but I'd find it really annoying if I couldn't. Without one it's extremely easy for me to head off in entirely the wrong direction, even with the compass (which is no help at all if the place you're going doesn't have a quest marker or you can't go in a straight line) so I just end up constantly stopping and opening the main map to check where I'm going and if I'm still going the right way.

Only if it's optional and have zero performance impact, rn it's a pass for sure.

Yes, but optional. Some of us don't use addons although playing on PC and any additions to the base game to cover the sort of things that addons provide should only ever be optional.

1. The UI for this game was stripped down so it fit inside the requirements for consoles and would run on them well. They could have had a better UI but would needed to have sacrificed some of the game world detail.
2. The compass bar is standard on TES games. The compass/icon system is also better on those games though

I think it was more to do with maintaining the TES fans' preference for a minimalist UI which can then be enhanced to personal taste by modders.

That is part of it but our standard UI is bare bones functionality and barely editable. They wouldn't build a minimap into the system if they didn't plan on attempting to use it. That would be a waste of human resources. On PC you notice how fast the game becomes bogged down with even a handful of addons.

I use Bandits UI and it comes with a very good minimap. I couldn't live without it now. No more running around in circles looking for my destination. Add pixel perfect to that and you get a very nice interface indeed.

Add a further map pins and I can grab all of the loot boxes before you lot get a look in.

Only if i can keep the compass
Its Far less uptrusive and more elder scroll than a minimap

This is the reason the devs gave for removing the minimap way back when.

"There is no minimap in ESO now, because it was exchanged with compass (like in Skyrim). Developers noticed that the original minimap didn't stimulate players to explore the world. ... They saw it in one of beta tests and decided to remove minimap from ESO and add compass instead."

This! Have an insightful lol.
I relied on the mini map in Witcher 3 too much and it ruined the game for me, so I wouldn't use it here. But I don't see the harm in letting other folks have the option, it's such a major feature in most open world games.

It's funny how some people are so dead set against one even if it's an optional item as if it's their way or the highway. I'm just tired of myself and others in groups going in the wrong direction all the time. Having to constantly open up my map the verify my location. As far as I'm concerned the only reason not to have the option is for performance reasons. The exploration angle is just not true.

Personally I'd like to see both. I've not seen the mini map but I like the idea of a compass for longer range direction and a mini map for the local area.

I’d like a mini-map option, it would prefer it at the upper right corner on the screen where I am used to seeing it on other games.

We had the mini-map active during closed beta, but this was disabled at launch due to an effort to limit the resources used by the UI.
