- If you do heal, farm Spell Power Cure.
- If you DPS, farm a Maelstrom destruction staff.
- I don't do BGs, but if there isn't much healing in them, farm Ring of the Pale Order.
- Good monster helmets are often sold by The Golden. That said, the easiest ones to farm in dungeons are Ilambris and Grothdarr. Note that Grothdarr isn't ranged.
- When using a Maelstrom weapon, you want one of your 5-piece sets to be single-barred (or else you can't use a monster set). When using a mythic item, you want both of them to be single-barred, for the same reason.
- Mad Tinkerer is the most accessible purely single-bar magicka set.
- From a pure tooltip damage standpoint, I don't love running Wall of Elements on a magden. But between the maelstrom weapon and the help backbarring it provides in proccing your backbar enchant, it's probably worth it.
How is your sustain in BG's? Wizard´s riposte has had it best time years ago so you might want to change that set. Replacements for Wizard´s riposte could be:
- Eternal vigor if you have sustain problems. It is a set from Western skyrim but drops so often that it is very cheap in guild stores.
- Bright throat boast for some sustain and higher max magicka. It is a set from Murkmire, but it is in the game for some years now so can be bought quit cheaply in guild stores.
- Ice furnace might be another option for a damage set. It drops from the base game Direfrost keep dungeon.
Actually, the list of possible sets for a magicka warden in PvP is very big and it really depends on your playstyle. Do you want tankiness or more damage? Do you mostly use the health based heal or other heals? How much sustain do you need? Using proc sets for damage or stat based sets to increase the potency of your skills? All questions that can be answered when looking for new sets.
Also if you use the Betty netch it might be worth replacing Crafty alfiq for Necropotence since it has a higher magicka bonus. You can find the set from overland in Rivenspire or for some gold in guild stores.
For PvE you can go with any standard combination of a spell damage + spell critical set. An accesible combination is Mother's sorrow + Julianos, though it is not meta. For starting out with PvE builds I would actually recommend looking at guides from players like Alcast. He spends quite a lot of time releasing builds for all kinds of PvE content:
https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-warden-build-pve/
https://alcasthq.com/eso-solo-magicka-warden-build-pve/
If you want to know which guild traders sell which set pieces I would recommend using the TTC website (https://tamrieltradecentre.com/).
Edit: Julianos is a DLC set but is crafted. Most sets that are from zone DLC's are actually quite easy to get since they are either sold in guild stores or can be crafted by friendly players willing to help.

I mostly dps but also heal random normal dungeon.
What is single barred?
