You could be activating the Minor Toughness passive that increases your health when you're healed by a warden or use an animal skill. It wears off after like 20 seconds, which would reduce your health back down. That's the only other thing that I can think of.

On an additional side note, I find that repairing gear before entering a group dungeon is a good idea as individual pieces that are empty on durability can usually affect your max health via passives, such as the heavy armor passive that gives you 2% extra max health for each piece of heavy armor worn, but when they degrade to nothing, it reduces that bonus until repaired.
Edit: forgot to mention there is also the Mythic “Thrassian stranglers” which was changed recently so that it reduces max health and damage shield effectiveness but increases weapon/spell damage. Max health reduction from the stranglers caps a -6000.

See, I use Thrassian Stranglers. But the issue happens on all of my characters. Some of which don't even have set gear like the others do as they're not at CP yet.
On my main character where I first noticed the issue, I wear Julianos and Infalliable.

And do “all” your characters happen to be wearing thrassian stranglers, because you can get more of the same mythic by collecting their parts as well as reconstructing them at a transmute station for 25 transmute crystals.
