yes, for one the +50% xp needed for cp level above cap should not be in so cost for next level for him should be around 500K.

That is with no other changes.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Lastly, we adjusted the rate at which you gain CP to be faster than it currently is on the live servers. Considering we haven’t raised the cap by 30 per patch in quite some time, we adjusted the CP curve to accommodate for that difference with a focus on speeding up the gain between 810 CP and roughly 1200 CP. This means you’ll gain CP levels faster at lower levels, and the rate at which you gain CP between 810 and 1200 (ish) will be slightly faster than how it is now with CP 1.0. After 1200 CP or so, the CP gain rate will feel about the same as it did in CP 1.0 once you reached higher ranks.

This is from the addendum of wheeler in the combat changes thread.
so its pretty much a oversight that the XP for CP 989 on live and pts have the same values

Its ignoring the fact that cp levels above cap has an +50% cost as they are above cap.

cost of getting an new cp level.
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000) if x ≤ cap
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000 * 1.5) if x > cap
x is your current number of Champion Points.

898 to 899 fits well with 539026*1,5=808538 who is the 1.5 penalty of being above cap.
In short they uses the old calculation system without changes and an legacy 810 speed bump.

No I don't expect them to use the old formula with an cap of 3600 as it would only require 120 K XP from 809 to 810 and probably bump most of us veterans to 3600 at once but the penalty for being above 810 makes no sense.

Looks like it has been fixed in the patch notes. I'm curious to know how much difference it makes to characters over 810 and over 1200.

That makes no sense unless they are keeping the cap at 810 and only adjusting the pre-cap part of the formula.

From all I read there will be no conversion from the old CP to the new, what you have is where you will be. Above 1200 the XP rate will be the same as the old system, ergo my comment anyone above 1200 will see no difference, meaning no change in CP rate of XP.

I know that the CP amount will not change.

But they adjusted the formula, so at 810 CP you now need 362k XP (before it would have been something like 420K).

I don't think they are going to just change the formula below 1200, while making the 1200+ crowd earn CP as if the cap was still 810. That's overly complicating the formula.

From all I read there will be no conversion from the old CP to the new, what you have is where you will be. Above 1200 the XP rate will be the same as the old system, ergo my comment anyone above 1200 will see no difference, meaning no change in CP rate of XP.

I have 1400 CP and need 1.1m for each CP on live on PTS I need 900k XP for a CP so there’s a benefit beyond 1200 as well.

When saying something like "higher ranks" 1200 is not in the higher ranks any longer. Proportionally speaking 1200 with a cap of 3600 is like 270 with a cap of 810, it is only .3333 of the way to cap. Higher ranks to me would be those above cap which is now 3600. Being some of these CP cost 50-100 CP just to unlock it that is going to be a very long time playing before you can upgrade your character in any fashion. I don't look for this to last long if it goes live like that, there is plenty of bemoaning already. If it goes live it will become deafening.

So those of us with CP 1500+ plus will be gaining CP like we usually do with no boost at all.
    Gotcha.

Anyone above CP 1200 will see no difference at all.

That makes no sense unless they are keeping the cap at 810 and only adjusting the pre-cap part of the formula.

If we still have NA characters on PTS when it comes back from maintenance, I will let you know. I currently have 1418 CP and it takes 1.13 million XP per point.

    The existing formula is
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000) if x ≤ cap
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000 * 1.5) if x > cap
    Where cap is 810.
The same is true on current PTS down to single xp accuracy.
Yes you still get an x1.5 penalty for being above 810 for reasons >:)

    The grind is real.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

They are and it was always that way, the higher your CP gets the more XP you need to get the next CP

Yes. But what they have done is move the "Cap" to 1020 and keep the same formula.

    @AlnilamE check first post

I did, but I don't see any actual edit. The XP curve has been adjusted on PTS and the new cap is 1020 (though we can use CP after that).

Yeah. They just changed the "cap" to 1020. Yikes!

Not sure why they want to have a penalty after the cap. It's going to take us long enough to get to 3600 either way.

1020 is probably a mistake with not intended "0" between "1" and "2", they told about 1200, so I assume that there will be cap :)

They have been clear, there will be no cap, you can earn CP up to 3600 and it can be used, though you will end up seeing more horizontal options with CP
